My Ek9 track car build up

love how you are bringing this car back!
Thank you :nice:

how easy/hard was this for you? I have some Recaros that need this done.

Not that hard, if you have basic mechanical knowledge and patience.
One foam Can be done in about 30-45 minutes,

There is a guide on the forum somewhere

Edit, here is a thread discussing it, follow the link to the PDF and it should give you an idea how to do it

tidy looking fan mount sir! and good job on the cam cover, its easy to get them wrong, with coats too thin or too thick.
the car must be feeling much better now aswell!

looking really nice man.

Love the fan mount mate..... Cars coming along nicely

Cheers guys, it's getting there slowly,

Yeah that cam cover took a bit to get the texture even, got it to light and patchy at first so gave it a light flat and one heavy coat over the top, fairly happy with it now

comeing along nicely, amazing what a bit of elbow grease can do ! seats look excellent mate

Cleaned up my grill straightened and re painted the mesh.

Bought a water temp gauge to go with my oil temp/pressure gauge.

Decided to fit the sender in the top hose outlet that goes on the side of the head as there is a perfect little bit to drill and tap.
Drilled a 8.5 mm hole as it was the closest drill size I had to the correct one(should be imperial size)

The thread is 1/8th npt which is tapered. Didn't have a tapered reamer so went straight in with the tap.
Fits like a dream and saves butchering the top hose to fit a adaptor

Nice work. Great job cleaning the engine bay Badley needed it

Yeah it sure did, was thick with grime, I think the dirt actually protected it from rusting:D

Nice idea with the sender, I'm going to copy you :)

I know the original gauge isn't very accurate but is it the gauge at fault or the original sender?

I'm not really sure but I just wanted a gauge with some numbers on it so I can see the actual temps reached,
The standard gauge is just a bit of a guessing game

I want a temp gauge setup like that myself, May have to get one made up the same way.

Any machine shop should be able to drill and tap a 1/8th npt thread for you if you don't have the tools, it's a 10-15 minute job:nice:

Not had time to do a lot up until last weekend as I've been busy sorting out the garage, so the car has been sat outside under a cover.

After removing the cover I was greeted by this:

Was a bit damp in there and has gone mouldy despite having moisture absorbers in there.

So cleaned it up and got the car in the garage.
Removed the rest of the front end bits including the radiator then removed the radiator and ac rad mounts.

Sandblasted them

Welded the mounts back on to suit the full size koyo rad

Cleaned up some very minor rust spots that had started

Put some primer on it for now

A few weeks, although it looked like a few years!

It had got wet in there before in the footwell due to a rubber grommet missing, I had dried it out but obviously not enough. Being under the cover with no light or air flow didn't help
