EK9 Racecar

Mate hope your track day goes well and you get great footage, good spot for go pro is where you have it stuck on roof light , again have a blast pal .

Looking very good mate. Love this build.

On the track noise level mate I'm sure you will be fine. @Steve M has a 5zigen border I think? and he has no issues as far as I know.
Thanks man

Yeh I hope it'll be fine, would be a bummer to run an insert.

Cheers mate!
I will do, looking forward to it. Will get lots of pictures and videos.

Yeah I've got a 5zigen border on my coupe. When I was on track at rockingham at Japfest I got a reading of 102db during the noise test, that was a static test at approx 6000rpm. So would depend what the noise limit is for your local tracks. I've never been bothered as Knockhill doesn't seem to have a limit... Well not one they in force anyway!

Ah cool man thanks for the info. Combe is strict with noise limits, at 100db!
I measured it today and I was 100-102db.
I pick up my back box tomorrow so will put up pics etc

No problem mate. Sounds like you might get away with it mate, if it's a drive by test then just lift off/short shift at the part of the track where they're testing?

I'm 90% certain they do static testing at Combe. But if they do drive by testing I'll do just that!
I used to go to college at castle Combe and I remember always seeing them do static testing.
They get lots of noise complaints from locals.

They do static at Combe.
Tell them your cars got launch control and you can't turn it off, tell them you can only reach like 5k then Rev it to around 4.5(assuming they don't watch the speedo)
Should get you in under the limit.

Dont even bother telling them just rev to 4k, if they watch the speedo then make up the launch control excuse.

I'm sure they used to measure at about 4000rpm static, with the meter about waist height,

Hope you have a good day and all go to plan,
I wish my car was ready for the track!

When i got static tested at rockingham the tester stood 45 degrees away from the exhaust and said to rev to 3 quarters of the rev range.

That's the standard measuring procedure.
1metre at 45degrees from
Exhaust.
I've had some testers want me at 7k before now which is rediculous IMO

Lol like hell i was going to rev 3 quarters of the rev range with a bc spec2, just held it at 4.5k.

I'd just rev it to 4500rpm in that case, I know @R1PPU only revved his to around half revs when he was tested and nothing was said about it, the tester couldn't see the rev counter so wasn't a problem!

Good luck! Be cool to see some videos aswell, get some inspiration to finish mine.

Well track day.... All I can say is AMAZING!!!
The most fun I've ever had!

I had 3 sessions of tuition from Stuart Lyddall, he was fantastic with me and taught me a lot.
By the end of the day he was very impressed with my driving :)) and he liked the car!

I took the GoPro and got some footage from the morning sessions but it ran out of battery by the afternoon.

I made a compilation of in car and dash cam footage for my YouTube channel.
The start of the video is my first time ever out on track!

I had lots of friends and family join me to watch my first track day, it was ace. I ended up being a taxi service :nice:

I met lots of nice people too, everyone is so helpful and kind.
I was parked next to a chap who is a member of hondasontrack.co.uk, which I may have been invited to some of their days :))

The car performed fantastic! Didn't miss a beat all day.
The only problem was the brakes!
They got rather hot! I was getting bad brake judder in the last couple of sessions.
I inspected the brakes today and I appear to have got the front pads so hot they've fractured the friction material!!

All good fun :))
