EK9 Racecar

I'm wanting to go wider at the front of my car and I was planning to run the pair of 16x7 that I have on the rear then get a pair of 16x8's for the front with an offset of 30 or lower

I would assume that these are 16x8 et20? I may be interested in 2 of your wheels if someone else wanted the fronts to run a staggered setup or even yourself? You could use a 15x7 or a 16x7 rota grid on the rear and even use extended studs and a hubcentric spacer to lower the offset of the 7" wheel a bit. I have rolled the rear arches neatly on the teg and can fit 16x7 et42 with 215 wide semi slicks and a 15mm spacer without any rubbing so that's at et27 on the rear

For the front wings, I have just finished rolling and pulling a bit and I made an aluminium plate to space the bottom of the wing out, then spacers where the wing attaches at the front to give good clearance

I think they're et20. That's the sticker on the wheels.
I think I'm just going to sell the wheels rather than use them now. Rookie mistake and impulse buy!
I've cleaned them up well and repaired the kerb mark now.
You're more than welcome to try them.
I'm at Combe end of the month of you're there I can bring one down?

The problem is I am in N.Ireland so I wouldn't be able to meet you

Yes they look like ET20

Can you tell me what the brake clearance is like with the oem 282 brakes? Im using wilwood front setup so may need slightly more clearance towards the spokes than the oem EK9 brakes

Ah no worries! The clearance is very close, fag paper really! You would probably need a spacer.

It's a good tool man, the new ones are too big imo. When the next couple of updates come out they're putting autodata reference material on too :))
Have you seen those new workstation diagnostics?
My local snap on keeps trying to flog it too me.... :blabla:
I only see the snap on man now and again mate as I'm not really on the tools anymore. When I do tho he seems to sell more bbq sets, bottle openers, mugs and cutlery than actual tools lol. Love the verdict tho. A mate has the versus at work and it's too big. And the multimeter you get with verdict is a beast. Love it.

Cars looking really well tho mate. Keep it up! And my two pence... Running 16x7 rota slips on 205/45 tyres. No clearance issues at all. No spacers. Not 100% on off set. Got them from @SPek9 so he could maybe confirm.

Thanks man :)) she's getting there, got a little update coming today once I've given her a wash.

Yeh I have to admit, I may own a snap on pizza cutter and ice cream scoop!
Yeh the meter is a good bit of kit.

I think it could be the offset, they're et20's. If they had 0 offset or very little they'd be fine I think.
I managed to send the tyres back though! Full refund boo yah.
I might see what scrap tyres we have at work and find a 205/45/16 and try it.

If not I'm going to sell the wheels, they've cleaned up really well and I've repaired the kerb mark.

An et of 0 would make them stick out much more, as that would mean the face that bolts to the hub is central in the wheel,
The higher the number (et+) the further the wheel will be in the arch.
For a 7" rim to fit in a standard arch a et40 is about perfect,
For a 8j wheel to fit with a light arch roll then a et45 or 48 may fit, but I'm not sure.

Ah I see! I didn't know how it all worked. Thanks man

The slipstreams are et40 so in 16x7 they are ideal for an ek9 with standard arches. Really light wheel too compared to most others

Been using the car for the past 3 days for work so I could give it a good check over before next weekends track day.
Looking rather dirty in that photo!! Must clean!!! :nerv:

My harness's finally arrived too, so I welded in some mounting points for the lap belts, I used some base plates from demon tweaks as they give a good solid base. I hope these are the right place to mount them. It seemed like the obvious place to mount.

The shoulder straps I've mounted to the rear belt mounting points for now, when the cage arrives I'll use the harness bar.

Gave her a good clean today to get all the salt off from the past few days.

Had to get her in the garage to dry as the rain started AGAIN!!

The belts make such a difference to how you feel in the car! I couldn't believe how much more planted you are in the seat. Will make cornering better :nice:

Just realised my ugly mug in a photo! Fail!

Can you adjust the throw on that shifter ? Or is the throw just nice ? Like not stupid short ,if you understand what I mean.
Lovely bit of kit .

Looks purposeful in there now mate!

Harnesses, mine are mounted to the exhaust tunnel and the stock mounting location for the seatbelt.
Tbh yours may be an even better solution seen as its directly opposing the force you'd expect in an accident.
Good luck next weekend

Yeh the throw is adjustable, there is a brass ball that you you adjust up of down on a threaded bar to change the thro, the higher the ball the shorter the throw.
You can also adjust the height of the knob as you can see in the picture.

I've got it set up quite short, but it's not stupidly short. It gives a really good feel over the standard shifter.

Thanks man :)) I'll have the go pro so will get some vids.

Ah right, I was looking to mount it there. The only thing with where I've mounted it is that if you have a bit of a belly on you the side straps probably won't get round your gut
But they're fine for an average joe.

Purposeful is what I'm going for! Thanks man means a lot!

Final track day prep now, I mounted my go pro where the interior light mounted. Here is a link to my YouTube channel with a short test video

I tested the noise level of the car and she's right on the limit for track db!
I do have an insert just in case but it doesn't quite fit my exhaust, so removed the back box and took it to an exhaust specialist today to see what they could do with getting it to fit.

They're making the tailpipe slightly larger diameter.

I only used an I phone app to measure the db so hopefully it will be under the limit without the insert on Saturday, at least if it fails I'll have the insert to quieten it down.

Looking very good mate. Love this build.

On the track noise level mate I'm sure you will be fine. @Steve M has a 5zigen border I think? and he has no issues as far as I know.
