EK9 Racecar

Lots of folks having coil problems this month!
Car is coming on leaps and bounds mate ,
Keep it up .

Today was my Dyno at Eurospec

I brought my dad along for the ride, he really enjoyed the experience.

Romain is a great tuner, really knows his stuff. I would highly recommend him.
We talked about the mods that I have done and the history of the car at first, he told me what other b16b's had made power wise and what I should expect.
He told me a story of one that only made 120hp! I was then thinking gulp! Hope mines good!!

Romain said that the fueling and ignition was stable / good and no power could really be made there.
But overall he said that was a very good power run for a b16b. And also it didn't smoke at all!

Super!! Now time for the ecu and map

Mapping wise Romain put in launch control (just for popping fun)
Vtec cross over is now at 4,500rpm.

The slight fluctuation at 5000rpm to 6500rpm is the 70mm throttle body, apparently they tend to do that, he said I could lessen it with a slightly smaller throttle body i.e. 68mm, but he said don't bother as you don't even feel it anyway, plus I might loose power.
He also said its making power all the way to the redline with the mods I've done :run:

Took it for a test drive and the difference is superb. The car is a lot smoother now and feels so much nicer.

The drive home was great, sits nicely at 70 on the motorway, overall the car feels much better.

Brilliant day and great time at Eurospec! Thanks guys and gals!

Good results! I've always thought the standard ek9 map feels a bit crap and flat mid range, even compared to a b16a...

Interesting the vtec point is so low, was that the absolute optimum point or did you just want it set lower like that?

Well he asked me what I'm using the car for and I said mainly track days and driving to shows etc, and I said do what you think is best, so he set it at 4,500. And it works really well! I think it was the optimum point really, feels great driving it.

Great results mate.
The vtec point doesnt change it just comes in smoother without the spike you usually get.
I bet you feel more low down torque, free revving and pulls hard!

Awesome any dyno videos?
Yeh I've got one video that I'll upload, I would of taken more videos but at Eurospec you can't get inside the room where the dyno is for safety reasons, so there is a viewing window but there is a reflection off some big windows behind that makes it hard to video.

Ayy? Used to be 6,000 now 4,500 what do you mean?

The take off was so hard ,all I could hear was bang bang dump ! Ow shite , lol all good.

Should have took a video!

Ah right yes I see what you mean sorry.
Yeh it feels a lot better now.
I'm so happy with how it went yesterday. Proper good day, that's what cars are all about! :nice:

Looking good!
I've been told eurospecs dyno is one of the lower readers around so it's a genuine figure you got.

Thanks man!
Yeh I was told it was a low reading dyno, but I'm very happy with the result anyhow.
Looking good!

Its not not just eurospecs dyno its dyno dynamics in general that is low reading.
Dyno jet gives higher figures hence people call them "happy dynos" and dyno dynamics "heartbreaker dynos".
