    that sounds way to heavy a knock to be tappets so i assume that something is loose in the cam gear, i wouldnt be running that engine if it was mine, take that cam cover off and check if anything is loose

    some boots come cut like this and have glue supplied but i found them very annoying to use and never lasted. granted getting the drive off and on again is a 30-45 min job.

    the temp sensor is what i would be looking at if it runs grand cold then not when its warm. confusing all the same as it is usually the other way around. it is probably bumping too much petrol in when its warm and so struggles, clean the iacv too. that thing seems to screw with everything when...

    i would bring it back as soon as possible, they owe you a properly built engine. surprised they let you have it with it burning oil

    that a bit ott in my opinion but you would want to be sure the bracket is steel. i wouldnt trust aluminium, it breaks easily and doesnt take stress like that well

    clean the iacv and if that doesnt work turn the idle screw on the throttle body up. easy fixed

    you sure its burning all that oil or is it leaking? the leak around the spark plug holes in the cam cover. i would be more worried about the black smoke. thats not good who ever built the engine has done a terrible job, bring it back and dont pay anymore to put it right

    i would worry if it was that far over the mark. drain a little out. no point risking anything for the sack of 15 minutes of work to drain a bit out.

    Vtec engine

    when you say you sealed the manifold do you mean around the iacv or the manifold at the block? how did you seal it? silicone? if so if you put too much sealant on the engine could have sucked a lump in and is blocking the air intake passage. but check the basics too. spark and fuel.
