1.6 sohc question

I bought an esi 1.6 sohc vtec civic with the piston rings gone and am just wondering would a 1.5 sohc vtec civic engine fit straight in on the same loom and all?

Yes it will as long as its not one of those 1.5 vtec-e with there 3 stage vtec, they have two solenoid's rather than one so the loom is different. If its a 1.5 from a eg then its no problem will fit and use the same wiring loom as your own.

Would it make the 1.5 any quicker if i put the 1.6 cam in it?

Is your 1.5 block a D15Z6? If so they actually have a larger camshaft than d16z6(1.6sohc vtec) so would be a down-grade to swap them.

There's been much speculation about which cam is more aggressive, but from what I recall reading, the 1.5L cam is the slightly better one.

Either cam won't give you power that can readily be felt...it's just not the same difference in terms of a regular Bseries VTEC cam vs. an R cam for example.
 
I would do the rings on the 1.6 and build on it. What you need is torque and the 1.5 is not going to cut it. My D16A6 with bisimoto stage 2 pissed on the 1.5 vtecs here, yes they rev higher but I am long gone before they reach the 7X00rpm.

Ok i put the engine in to it today! Everything went grand but the loom of the 1.5 engine's O2 sensor only has 1 wire while the 1.6 engine has a 4 wire O2 sensor??

Is there anyway around this?
 
Wich Ecu are you using?

BTW you can swap the head of the d16Z6 on your d15 for a little more compretion, and if you gote the d15z6 i think you get tyhe EGR valve and selenoid...check this because you can swap that to and end up with the best 2 words!

In mean time mesure the cams!
