Hi everyone,im building a b18c ek hatch and am looking to get 250 flywheel hp,i will be driving the car on weekends and doing some trackdays with it to,just was wondering could you guys give me some info on what sort of a package is most effective and will still be drivable on the road,i was thinking of going b20 but can it safely take 9 thousand rpm's as i love revs and top end power, all your comments are much appreciated guys:nice:

It'll cost a shitload, is it really worth it?

Build a B20, they can take the revs if you build them right, you'll need to post the block and get some decent rods/pistons with a B18C crank girdle, but it should take the revs fine if you take care with the build.

yes can be done , a fella (stevieturbo) of itr-dc2.com done it on a b18 ,it rev's to 11,000 . it worked out at 205whp . this car is still being drove round n.ireland somewhere.the amount of money required for parts and labour would scare ye , he was lucky as done the majority of the work himself.

if a b20 bottom end was built and balanced could it take 9k as most of the stage two cams(using skunk2 as an example) hit their peak at 9 and above,at the mo i have a gsr block with a jdm ek4 sir head pr3 i think, they call it poor mans type r or something, well anyway my plans for this were...................... stage2 cams mabye more and upgraded valvetrain plus vernier pullies depending on clearence left after comp has been raised,PnP head bigger t.b and inlet manifold balance bottom end and micro-polish crank, high comp pistons and head gasket(mabye around 12:1 comp)and run it all off hondata s300 i prob left some stuff out im not sure lads, all your help would be greatly appreciated and hope you could advise me on what brand parts to use in conjunction with each other, also will a compression of 12:1 run on 95 ron cos i not to sure about that kinda stuff,THANKS:nice::nice::nice:

Maybe wrong but if memory serves me correct it will detonate using 95 fuel? You would have to use something like V POWER.

I maybe wrong but i think thats correct...

What is v-power like 98 Ron

99 ron now. I think it also depends on what it has been tuned on. But pretty sure high compression needs a high octane level.

thanks guys so do you think b20 or b18 would be best for what i want??

@ theDohc i am having WILL aka EK9turbo do a build for me while mine is off the road till next year!
Your plans dont sound to far off what im having done so ill let you know the outcome next year once built and tuned!:naughty:

My build will be :-

Bore & hone
High comp pistons (13-1CR) 81.5mm
Forged rods
All new bearings
Stage 3 blueprint Cams
Supertech valve-springs & retainers
Port & Polish
High comp valve-stem seals
Head studs
Head gasket
New oil pump
New water pump

that will be wicked buddy, what will be your rev-limit?are you gonna drive it on the road, what power you hoping for,Ya gotta l:drive::)):Dove rev's!!!

Rev limit will be around 9000rpm but it all depends what the dyno shows, no point reving up there if it's not making any power past say 8700rpm! (hope you understand what im tring to say there)
I will be driving it on the road but not all the time, this will be my weekend toy/track toy!
TBH im not hoping for a certain power, "it make's what it make's" all i do know is that my 9 dose not hang around now so this will just give me that bit more!
As most people know all dyno's read diffrently so it will just be a case of what i have gained from last time i was on the same dyno!:naughty:

will a more aggressive cam not reach its peak at a higher rpm say if the duration is longer as it would need more volumetric pressure to get the best from it

Heres my current spec if it helps.........................
