250 Hp at flywheel on b18c......possible?

Well it was until recently, but the 2 K20's I race against have now also been stroked (one to 2.2 on ITB's, and the other possibly to 2.3) so I think my next race will be hard work :))

At least you have the engine on the side honda intended it to be,it was put that way for a reason and thats why i am such a b-series fan:blinx:

Heres my current spec if it helps.........................

Kris i want your engine, it is my dream to have vtec with ITB's
I need to come watch one of your races just hear that thing go!

Look forward to reading your next race report mate!:nice:
O GOOD LUCK too!

will a more aggressive cam not reach its peak at a higher rpm say if the duration is longer as it would need more volumetric pressure to get the best from it

Yes you are right there, but i have read time & time agen that the EK9/DC2 cam's can make power upto 9000rpm but in my case they start droping off about 8650rpm
So companys that state there cams to make power up to 9000-9500rpm i would like to see graphs to prove!
So this is why i say i will wait & see how it it dose on the dyno:nerv: befor i state i will be reving too 9000rpm!

There have been B engines that have made 350whp NA!! Drag cars of course, but yes just about anything is possible, the NA K drag cars make about 400whp NA!!!

Yea shouldnt believe everything you read, nothing beats personal experience, hope your build goes well bud

I gonna assemble most of it myself hopefully but will get martin treacy to hone,PnP,balance and tune ect....

I am more than capable of doing the build myself (I have done many before) but Will’s is offering a VERY competitive price & then I know for a FACT that it will be right!:nice:
Will is a friend of mine anyway & I will prob do most of it with him, it’s just I trust his work more than my own!:secret:

Jimbob.......yeah it sounds great especially in the car, but the sound gets lost on camera so any footage we have just doesnt do it justice. I'f I can afford it, the last 3 races are at Snetterton, Mallory and Brands so pop along if your close enough :nice:

With regards the engine, its making peek power around 8800rpm so no need to rev the guts out of it and makes it a little more reliable!

The spec of Kris' motor shows big power is achievable, BUT that kinda spec is big ££££'s....& perhaps less suited to a fast road car & more a race car that lives at the upper end of the rev range constantly....

Big BHP & torque only come from a proper build. ITB's & stand-alone management will become a must...

If you plan on retaining plenum chamber injection & single throttle body this will become a limiting factor if chasing numbers...

Jimbob: I think you are pretty close with what you are saying about stock B18 cams. With my eCtune setup they make peak power at a true 8200rpm, holding well to 8400rpm & with the limiter at 8700rpm (9200 on the rev counter:wow:). Swinging the cam timing could extend that slightly at the expense of low end torque i suppose.... I personally dont think a road B18 really needs to rev harder than that anyhow.

Not much point unless some investment has been made in making sure the bottom end is built & capable of withstanding it for sure

Fair play lad,i just like to do it myself so i know exactly wot i have, dont really know anyone well enough to trust them with my build but ur lucky to have someone you can trust:bow:

you should talk to Performance auto works. They built kris dunlop 1800 with 250 bhp @ around 9000 rpm.

Yep I am he :D

Performance Autoworks are based in Fairford just outside Cirencester and come highly recommended by anyone that uses them. Richy built my engine from scratch and did all the headwork himself and has built a cracking motor. I've started 9 races this season and finished all 9 aswell as 9 qualifying sessions plus test days, so that says a lot for his/their workmanship on a motor that is at the limit all the time!

I know what your saying mate, Vid's never do sound justice!
I used to have a X16XE corsa (road rally car) on ITB's & that sounded amazing, so i can only imagine what yours sounds like on Vtec!:wow:

This is a "TESTAMENT" to there work if i ever read one!:win:

that would be great but i live in ireland lads, any one have any experience with martin treacy(westward engineering)????
