heya fellas, not long had me ek3, butiv already purchsed a sweet b16a (eg sir 170bhp) conversion... but im starting to wonder if it`s worth it. i mean im really keen to completely transform it and turn it from a shitty old runabout to a sports cars worst nightmare but im not sure as the rear arches require a fair bit of work as you can see here. http://www.ek9.org/forum/members-rides/33282-my-new-civic-lsi-vtec-lol.html
also there`s a couple of things to sort e.g. the leak in the passenger footwell / dodgy earth somwhere thats making my lighting flicker like a disco and finally the fact some bellend hit the rear off side light and has dented and cracked the wing wich can also be seen in the thread above but if any of you guys have have any objections to me burning it out and flogging the conversion and just getting a vti please let me no. i mean it might just be m e being a tit and not having faith but.... cheers guys

I'd say keep it. You'll feel a lot better after completing a project like this. The flickering lights sounds like alternator issues to me. I had a similar thing in my 9 several times and each time turned out to be the alternator. I know this because I either replaced the alternator or the alternator gave up the ghost and died.

Decisions....decisions.....It just depends mate,u need to take a step back and ask yourself wether u want to put in the time and effort n the trouble involved in building ur own car from a rat not to mention the money it will cost to get it to a standard u want! Anyone can go and buy a car but it feels special when u have built a car up from nothing and watched it progress,Theyr are alot of really great members on here that will help u out with any questions u have or problems u may run into, but again thats all part of the fun and the journey. At the end of the day dude ,its on u and if u dont have the patience to hold off and complete this honda then fairplay move on and get one u are happy with at the end of the day everyone wants and easy life:D good luck with what u decide to do and any questions dont hesitate to ask.....

if it were me, i'd just buy a vti as there well down in price. the time you do the transplant and get the car tidied up, it'll be a small fortune. the only thing i could suggest would be to get a few quotes for all the work that needs done and you'll no better then yourself mate, it will either end up that you could have your own car tided up with a standard vti engine or buy a original vti with a few extra pound left over to tune it up..

cheers guys, the reason i bought a shitter was to do just what you 2 have said... build it up to be exactlywhat i want... i figured.. anyone can buy a vti and prance about, but i wanted it to be more than that. i`ve never done anything on a scale like this before but really wanted to, so im going to stick to it.. as soon as i get paid this month i gonna take it to a few bodyshops and find out what its going to cost to get it looking good for now as a full respray will come later on. at the moment my biggest issue is getting my engine in... the guy who is ment to be doing it is a compete TOOL!!! im waiting on him because i wouldnt know where to start, my car doesnt have vtec so i would need to wire it in for a start plus i havent got crane which is a major issue lol.

fix it up dude, most vti's have rust anyway and you will have to be doing the same thing to another car to get it fixed. The rust on yours isnt bad at all mate, keep it put in your engine and enjoy it

yeh i think thats the way forward man!!! and what an acheivement once its done... i will have a sweet build thread too. and i`ll be able to say "this is the peice of shite that i bought.. and this is what it is now" as im on a £250 is a month budget, starting this month my plans in order are this... #1- get the engine looking like new until that douchebag fits it for me/ fit the tanabe system as ive already got it #2- get the arches sorted!!! #3- get the body looking the way i want it e.g. bumpers/colour coding #4 respray rocker and colour code entire engine bay and if there`s money/ oppertunity in there at any point sum bargain coilys/alloys aswell :) but keep an eye on the thread as big things are coming!!!! cheers guys

x2 buy the time you've it up to the spec of a vti. you may have well just bought a vti and used the spare money on it!

you will get a feeling off accomplishment when u build something mate :) rather than buying someone elses work however i have learned the hard way its the continuous money out the pocket that put me off finishing my ek9 although it was more or less road legal it cost me well over what i anticipated :(
