nothings changed haitch... I don't like the fact 2nd gear ends at 102kmph @9000rpm. Other than that, you just have to change gears sooner when driving around town. acceleration no different or can't tell.

I would recommend that since you are going to pull apart your gearbox, install some longer 1st and 2nd gears. You will have the ratio of those race cars which is perfect for acceleration. I only wish someone would have told me that earlier :angry2::angry2::angry2:

I'll be doing this mod when I need to rebuild my engine with 1.8... I wont be doing it soon since i still have 230psi per cylinder.:D

I will think on this, its an arse when you dont get the right advice first time round, can be costly! Thanks.

102 km/h 9000 rpm is what DC2 makes with a 4.78 FD. Mine makes 105 km/h at 8800 rpm with the stock 4.4. The acceleration is slighty better but it cannot get noticed easily tha's why you can't tell :)

Been looking at the OS GIKEN kits, http://www.osgiken.net/products/closeratiogear.html , the 3 or 4 gear kit is probably more practical as it leaves 5th as standard. Are they better than the 4.78 teg fd? With a longer 1st & 2nd what sort of speed would you change gear at? Would this make daily driving a pain? There seems to be too many options for the gearing! :nerv:

longer 1st and 2nd gears + 4.78 or 4.6 or stock FD gives maximum acelleration according to Toda and SPOON.

Mine was in a couple of weeks back for a mirror respray babyface, I am in Aldershot. PM sent jugbugz.

getting TODA and SPOON 1st and 2nd gear quotes now. I'll be ordering a set for myself... :D

Damn, I just got the SPOON cross gear kit price, and it's 230000yen for all 5 gears and FD. It's seems that this kit brings the 1st gear to 80kmph and then 2nd gear to 125-130kmph. All with shorter final drive. geez this is the read deal...

I'm getting quotes for todas close type transmission kit which only consists of the 1st and 2nd gears.

Thats £970 ish UK, but if the Teg 4.78FD (£220) + longer 1st & 2nd (any make) comes in cheaper? The Toda its bound to be expensive eh. Read it m8 but people always hope to get things cheaper?

Hadnt heard from the guy who emailed Eriks racing so I thought I would find out about delivery price myself, I included my main location and postcode in the email (everything but my house number), this is the reply:

Well in order to get you started on a price for Shipping i will need a full
billing address that this final drive would be shipping to and i would like
a matter of payment that will be recived on our part.

Anybody dealt with them, is it me or does this seem a touch rude? Already have a decent quote from Jugbugz so..

They usually talk that way to customers, that company is famous in my country since the owner is from guatemala.

Also when I look at RVM's post http://www.ek9.org/forum/transmissi...-final-drive-gear-ratio-speed-comparsion.html and compare gear ratios for the Integra here http://www.itr-dc2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33788 it seems they are the same except for 4th & 5th (if both charts are correct), so am I missing something on 'upgrading' to a 4.78FD in your EK9?

This information is not 100 % sure, remember, things like climate, altitude, vehicle weight, drivers, can make a big change in this information! :nice:

try funky power they do the spoon final drive for around £450 i think

Thanks RVM. lumek4...$450 is only £220, even with delivery cost its cheaper to get it from the other side of the world, just because I live in UK I dont see why I should pay double, Im sick of rip off prices here.
