Hi guys.
I wanted to upgrade the cooling system on my EK9, and was just wondering if it is only worth fitting the full width aluminium radiators and deleting AirCon, or if the half width 2/3 core ones, which allow you to keep AirCon, are worthwhile.....
I am not giving up my AirCon (Japanese summers are disgusting).

Planning on doing about 10-14 track days in the next year. Not a daily driver, but I use it at night and on my day off each week.

I was thinking of KOYO, or similar...:blabla:

Aluminium rads make some differance! for track full length would be better but half lengths will do the job no problem aswell so you cant go wrong

I have my eye on a KOYO Type Z going cheap online....I might grab it if it is worth while...

I ran a half width cheapo eBay rad on my boosted eg6 and it never got got!
IMO if it's thicker than oem and doesn't leak then a half size should be more than ample for an NA ek9 even with track action

I was thinking the same thing.
An NA 1.6, with one of those monster DC2 full length Koyo's......It looks like overkill, but I had a tuner, who races civics, tell me a few days ago, that the half width ones are not really worth it. But he is putting in some serious track time every week....so.....

A good THICK half core rad will do nicely.
Make sure its as thick as possible. Sometimes you might come across a non branded thick half rad and these could be better than the branded ones.
If your getting a thick half rad i would also invest in a slimline fan as using the deep OEM fans can lead to clearance issues with your air intake box and gearbox casings.

I'm running a half length alloy one on my k20 ek9. And has been used hard. And not once has it even got warm ! Infant the annoying thing is waiting for the car to warm up it takes ages ! And cools down so quick . Deffo worth tr investment. As said before don't go by brand do by thickness. And. A slim line fan get a decent make. As. Cheap copies could fail without you realising !

Half may be fine and do it's job. But the full size looks nicer :nice:

As others said, get a decent fan. I ran mine as a pusher behind the bumper to save bay space and keep it neater lookib

Good advice, guys. Thanks.

It is a 53mm thick, Koyo, which retails for about 800-900 bucks US.
Thick AND a good brand, and that is the combo that got me interested. Plus I can keep
the aircon.
37minutes to go in the auction....I am still ahead! Fingers Crossed....

Woo! Got it.....I will post pics once it is here and ready to install....need to figure out how to fit it now....pretty sure it is not a bolt on affair...especially with the FAN issues that a couple of you were mentioning....
