Any one on here work off shore on here

Looking for some info regarding get on tests etc

Are you meaning the Bosiet and MIST training ?

Yeah mate and how hard is it to get off shore
My current trade is painting

I am not off shore but looked at it a few times , you will need your BOSIET and MIST. Try here they do the best prices Survivex

As for getting in you would just need to fire of you CV and look out for oil and gas open days.

Agree with above for tickets needed to get offshore. Usually budget around £1000 by the time you've done your BOSIET,MIST and Norwegian Waters courses (necessary to work in some sectors of the north sea!)

As for getting offshore I've been looking and trying for a few months now and even with my old man being a financial director at Subsea 7 and me being a coded welder I've had no joy so far! :(

I work offshore, stuck in Qatar just now
Been here for 5 weeks and looks like its going to be at least another 2 weeks before im home :(

What exactly you needing to know ?

Basic course you will need are your BOSIET,medical and MIST
No need to do the Norwegian stuff unless you plan on working in the Norwegian sector

Getting a start is the hardest part
Its the usal not what you know but who you know
Best to send the CV`s off to the agencys and pester them all the time !

Any questions just ask :)

Great thread Dc2steve im looking at getting into the same sector as the fire service are not recruiting at the moment.
Thanks for the posting the link Wishy thats the cheapest i've found so far. Also sorry to Hijack Dc2steve but are the lack of jobs in the more skilled areas or is it the same at the lower level jobs like the general labourers?

Great thread.

Been looking to get into this sector for some time also.

I have a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and have been working as a Project Engineer for Scottish Water for the last 5 years..........would this be looked apon faviourably during the application process? Or do all successful applicants start in entry level jobs?
