We basically im looking to sort my car out for track, its an ej9 shell  so i know i'll have to have a brace at the back to strenghten things up but my question is this???
Whats the perfect (ideal) set up for track use.??

I understand if you have a bigger arb up front you understeer and if you have a bigger arb out back you'll oversteer, but surely thats only under braking into corners also liftoff, but you can get that anyway??? So would it be better to run two arb's the same size or slightly bigger out front???? How bad IS the oversteer issue???
Any help would be grand. Cheers.

Well that question will be answered differently by everyone because it depends on your driving style. I personally have an ej6 chassis and i use 24mm up front with 22mm in the rear and my car is really neutral with no over or understear one way or the other, however my tire choice, tire pressure, spring rates, and shock settings also all play a role in this. I run something like 480lbfront 250lbrear, i'll have to check my old thread to be sure but i'm sure you get my point?

As Blinx says, it's personal choice.

A few things to bear in mind:

  • The EK9 uses 26mm front and 22mm rear, with 4.5/4.5kg springs. That's a good base to work from for handling balance.

  • Bear in mind the stiffness of the bar goes up with the 4th power of it's diameter, so a small change in diameter can have a noticeable effect on handling. Bar changes generally make a bigger contribution to balance than springs because of this.

  • Bear in mind the 22mm rear bar is in reality far far stiffer than the front 26mm bar as the arm lengths are a lot different.

  • Whatever you go for, I would recommend an adjustable rear bar, a 1" change in the drop link position on the arm can have the same affect as adding/removing 300lbs from your coil spring rates on a 24mm bar.

I used a 24mm bar on the stiff setting with 6.3/5.5 springs and a stock 26mm front bar on my EK4. With stock geometry it handled well, but could sometimes get a bit sketchy on braking into corner entry in the wet. My rear polybushes didn't help this though, maybe with rubber it might have been OK.

On my final day competing with that car, I was running AO48s up front with -2.5° camber, and AD08s at the back with stock geometry. That was what I would deem too much oversteer, so much the back end was on the verge of letting go even with the throttle wide open. On the plus side, insane traction on corner exit!

Seems like a decent set up you running the kozy. Ive got buddyclub race spec coilover on my car an i cant remember what spring rates they are!!!
Thanks for the info tho, i was hoping you would reply you really seem to know your stuff, of which i dot lol. I'll get round to upgrading and tell you how it goes.
