Ive just practically been given a new ASR subframe brace kit and was told it wasn't a genuine item which after a quick search online came across a site claiming they were dangerous, mainly due to the lower grade bolts used compared to the real ones. I dont fancy using something potentially dangerous so have a few questions...

Has anyone used / using the rep braces? Any issues with them? I could buy upgraded bolts if everything else fits fine

Can anyone recommend some UK suppliers for the real ones?

Can you fit a 22mm DC2 roll bar to them using the ASR D brackets or do you use the integra D brackets?

Thanks

I don't really see how a brace can be dangerous. Yes they strengthen something therefore are subject to some form of stress but not enough to break bolts and cause damage.

I'm using a genuine ASR brace with ASR arb and if it didn't come up for sale I would have happily used the replica ones.

Just for simple piece of mind
Replace the bolts if that is your only concern..

im going to try the replica brace so will just upgrade the bolts

ive never fitted one and after looking at pictures it makes the droplinks more angled because of the brace and bar sitting further back so do people still run the car like this with no problems? I would of thought the links needed to sit vertical and not angled to work at their best

That brace should be sitting flush , you sure you have the
Little block/shim at back of the brace? Your brace should be straight, post pic of the brace and parts .

How would the brace push the drop links back ?
The drop links are connected to the arb and lcas not the actual brace.

It's basically a lump of metal, problems with reps are lower grade bolts and colour quality doesn't last other than that, they feel as heavy as the genuine. I have a genuine my mates have had reps.

I only bought my genuine one because it came with the larger ASR arb.

I know what you mean mate , it's not that thick to mess up the arb and drop links , very much needed if running a bigger arb .

lol yeah i know that

id seen some pictures of someone fitting theirs and he had trouble with the droplinks no longer sitting vertical and was told to buy spherical links. Ive now test fitted it on mine and apart from a mounting issue i can see it would work and the links will sit right
