ATR owner here

Nice clean car mad wheels but suit it well. Glad to see you use the car properly do you do many trackdays/meets?
Not so many now. :(

I used to do loads, but now my new job has turned my life upside down and most meets and trackdays are on hold..... :(

In the past, i've done :

Rockingham - in the wet. spun off backwards through the gravel trap. kissed the barrier with the rear bumper and exhaust at about 5mph.

Snetterton - in the dry. loved it. :nice:

RAF Marham - twice

Santa Pod - about 9 times :win:

I went to Japfest 2009 and Japfest 2010. i try to get to meets whenever i can. :nice:

I decided to change the colour of the wheels for this year. :nice: :

Hello again everyone, glad to still see the forum going strong. :nice:

I've not been on for a while, but i thought i'd post an update after spending the best part of 3-bloody-thousand-pounds on a 10 year old Honda. :wow:

After experiencing endless problems with starting the car up from hot (after filling up with fuel, for example), burning 2 litres of oil per month and using a similar amount of coolant, i decided to bite the bullet, book the car into Performance Autoworks and spend some serious money to get the engine back to peak condition after 106,000 miles. Here's a video of how it was running (cold start and misfiring :(( ) :

It ran ok when warmed up and VTEC was still working quite well despite the problems it had (apologies for the poor sound quality) :

The clutch was also playing up at low speeds, so i also decided on buying an H22 ACT 5.8kg Flywheel and stage 1 ACT clutch (at a additional cost of £590). Here is the invoice, for those of you who are thinking of getting similar work done on an old Type R lump. :) :

The car is running well now. It has only used 100ml of engine oil in the last 1300 miles and pulls nice and strong in all gears. I'm hoping that full/most compression has been restored and hoping that it's running at least 225bhp now. Recent pic :

Thanks for reading. :nice:

Unfortunately this car is now up for sale and it will probably sell for quite a low price.

It's up for auction on ebay now. Maybe somebody will snap this up, spend a few hundred pounds on it and use it as a track car. I'd hate to see the car in a breakers yard because the partially-rebuilt engine is still as strong as an ox.

I toyed with the idea of buying a cheap old Honda and doing an engine transplant, but realistically i do not have the skills, space, tools or patience to complete such a large project.

I hope that this is not the end of the line for this engine & gearbox. I hope that it still has a good few years left in it. :)
