hi everyone .im fairly new to this forum.
i just wanted to know if anyone has put in an automatic Gsr swap into the ek9
the reason im im interested in this because i am trying to get an Ek9 and i cannot drive stick anymore because i dont have the use of my legs but i can still drive...i know if i didnt explain my reason for wanting to swap an auto in ,i would get flamed.lol

the only concerns that i have about doing this swap is possible
- wiring problems
- having to change a mount or 2
- locate auto shifter parts
- i basically want to know what is plug and play

if anyone has any info on doin a swap like this please feel free to post pics or any info the this thread especially if u have 1st hand experience or have seen it done in an Ek ...thanks

First of all welcome the forum.

I think you can make this swap, assuming you have the complete automatic gsr engine.

1. You'll need automatic pedals.

2. You need an upper transmission bracket (not mount) from a 96-00 auto transmission.

3. Next you'll need the lower transmission mount of a automatic 96-00 civic.

4. You'll also need the rear transmission mount of a automatic civic 96-00.

5. Automatic ecu.

6. Automatic shift linkage

7. Automatic center console + automatic "shifter".

8. Automatic gauge cluster.

9. Master and slave clutch cylinder, I'm not sure how the automatic transmission "handles" this.

I might miss some stuff but I recommend you to check out this thread:

[FAQ] 96-00 Auto to Manual Swap in full detail!! (44pics) - Honda-Tech

It'll definitely help you out :nice: I think any honda mechanic can do it :p

i just want to be clear, when you say EK9 you are aware that is 97-00 Civic Type R, is that what you have or are you starting out with an EJ6? Because you can find Auto EJ6 and that should make the conversion much easier as the car is already setup for Auto trans.

Best of luck with the project, also maybe consider finding an Auto Integra and just swapping a B18c in it?

hey thanks Rvm, thanks alot..very useful info.
thanks Blinx.i know. it's the Type-R that im after. im in the Usa right now..but the car is coming from japan, if they can get me one for cheap.i know i could just build a clone but i want a true jdm rhd..

I think that the automatic gsr tranny wil fit on the type r motor that the car should come with..if it can then i will just swap the 5spd out and then build the auto tranny.
my plan is to run boost, 10secs or better on the track

Sounds possible man, good luck, if you have anymore questions just ask :woot:

can anybody tell me what is the cheapest price that i can possibly get an Ek9 in the US for?

saw one for 18K, stock ek9, black and one for 25K, full k20swap, yellow around northern california, the owner is on this site, i know there about 16-20K to get it here from japan after all the papers and fees, carrier, etc, depending on where you get it

n1 concepts imports them, there are on this forum under the name "n1 j's monster"

Honestly though if you want a 10 second auto trans honda it will be expensive, i don't know where you would even start to find a tranny that could handle the power, have you considered building your civic for fun and then building a muscle car for drag? You can build a muscle car in Auto trim for a fair price and many of the american auto trannies can handle a lot of abuse!! 65 mustang with a c4 and built 289?

Why do Americans love auto's so much?

did you not read his first post ??

fair paly for trying this swap, ive got my eye on this it will be intersting to see how u get on!! I cant see any reason why this wouldnt be possible! :))

i dont know why people say ignorant things these days but o well, such is life.. thanks though
woww.18k -25k is not gonna cut it.i wouldnt even think of spending that. im actually gonna spend half of that for mine and i already hunted one down! i'm just waiting to get this loan then its on.
As for building the tranny, i actually found a thread on here where someone talked about places that build trannys. now the only problem i found with one of the places in New jersey is that i didnt really like the way the guy responded. he just said in a ruff kind of arrigant voice" when ur ready ,just bring the tranny and we will do what ever you want done to it" its the way he said it as if i was prank calling him

.im gonna brush this off and say maybe he was busy and didnt want to stay on the phone long..lol. im gonna call back another day.he seemed pretty conifident that he could modify the tranny .o well i guess i willl find out when i bring the tranny to him. i must say im very excited about getting the car and doing this swap all together!

i will definetly have a build thread..geesh i would hate to disappoint! i know one thing,if this goes through i will be doing alll the work for myself..
