Avergae cost of a k20a conversion?

for someone living in the uk what would be the average cost do you reckon? i'm not interested in doing it as the B16B rocks but im just curious!

Also, avergae cost of b18c conversion.

not sure all whats involved with a k20 conversion, pass on that one, but a b18c engine without anciliaries can be picked up for around a grand in the right places, think all you really need is the engine, everything else should be fine,gearbox etc,if you dont mind getting your hands dirty it shouldnt cost that much around 1-2k depending on where you get an engine.
i know a guy who got the whole type r running gear ecu g box etc for £850 in the yellow paper,think you call it loot in England, we call it supermart up here.

wen doin a b18c swap in a type r u need the ecu engine an injecters an fuel pump....other than that it will fit straight into a type r.....the k20 is a pricey engine swap...icetronix over here will do it for 8500euro fitted thats wit aftermarket mani an tuned to 220bhp.

Yep, and the price difference is from the "hookups" you get on parts and how detailed and correctly you want to do the swap.

I asked a company called CPL or CLP, b4 I got my 9 and they said about 6k fitted, including engine & gearbox (for a k20 swap).

as for the b18c 1-2k,i would say so if you look in the right places mate and try to do as much as you can yourself,its pretty straight forward

the b16b is a work of art why would you want to change it?

cpl racing is a big dont go there , there are many horror stories out there to back this up

cause it has no low end power and its very difficult and expensive to make any power with a 1.6 ahahahahaha i have my own emotocon

well why buy a car with a 1.6 in the first place then? if you gonna be unhappy with the performance
the best part of the ek9 is the engine , you want more power buy some thing else

there are many benefits to the ek9, its not just the engine that makes it a great car. by your logic then would you also disapprove of the use of aftermarket coilovers? the factory suspension is excellent but some people feel the need to upgrade it, would you then say the same thing?

part of the automotive passion is upgrading your car that maybe via coilovers, a stroker kit, an intake, or a whole different motor.

i dont disapprove at all if its gonna make better then thats a good thing

but for every day drive to work go to you mates house do you really need to change a thing?
the thing that really gets my goat are people that dont even own an ek9 planning to change the car before they have even driven it the way its come out the factory

i agree with you on this part, you really should enjoy a stock ek9 before you start modding ot

I agree it hasn't got lot of low end power, but think about it, does the DC2 has extreme midrange? Its just 10 lb -ft of torque more nothing exteme really.... And isn't it more or less the same cost to make "equivalent" power increase with the B18C to the B16B?? Where is your book?

So the 1.8 L is perfect? My friends 96 DC2 has aftermarket air filter, header and exhaust only. We were going side by side until he shifted in the 3rd gear at 100 km/h where he disappeared My mods then were air filter, header, exhaust and 15" Rays TE37s only. So, the experiment says that just a set of superlightened wheels balanced his torque advantage From the 3rd gear, his displacement advantage started to work

10 lbft of torque is big difference in a light car like EK9, especially if the torque is broad... If there were 2 cars and both make the same HP but 1 is a 1.6 and the other 1.8, the 1.8 will feel much more stronger. Other wise how does my friends B18C EK4 stock do 1/4 mile in the high 13s?

fon: I agree with blinx, EK9's engine is a gem but not the best thing... the engine you can change but not the chassis.
