Well i'm getting a bit bored with the B16A2 engine in my EK4 so i thaught insted of swapping to a diffo engine i would turbo it insted ...

I've kind of got a list of parts together i was wondering if you lot could tell me if i've forgoten anything or if i should change some other parts aswell.

This is going to be done over a year or so, the car is going to be a sunny day weekend runner and the odd track day when it's not raining. So not aiming for 400hp ... if i get 240whp i'm more than happy to be honest

The car already has quite a few mods ... EK9 gearbox Exceddy Stage 2 clutch fully uprated suspension and bushings, soon to come are 4 pot front brakes so stopping it wouldnt be a problem.

I would also plan to re-do some small things on the engine before doing this ofcorse, IE : Headgasket, Timing belt, Valve Stem seals and a few other things too.

Here is the list of parts i've put together ofc the overall price wouldnt include mapping.

CIVIC B16 B18 B16A TWISTED RAM RACING TURBO MANIFOLD price £190.00

T3/T4 TURBO CHARGER T04E 0.50 A/R £185.00

38MM V BAND TURBO WASTEGATE With 7.83 PSI SPRING price £80.00
InterCooler Piping Kit £200
Mishimoto Universal Intercooler - M Line Price: £249.99
XS POWER Blow Off Valve Type H price £65.00
Hondata s300 - £322.55
ARP Head Stud Kit : Price: $116.10
Greddy Oil Filter Sandwich Plate 1/8 NPT Price: £53.00 Includes VAT
Greddy Oil Catch Can 15mm Price: £95.00
ALUMINIUM RADIATOR – EG/EK CIVIC (HALF SIZE) Price £90.00
UNIVERSAL SLIM FAN - 10" RADIATOR FAN Price £30.00
B-SERIES 5 PIECE COOLANT HOSES - BLACK Price £57.00
RC-Engineering Saturated Fuel Injectors (550-750cc) £99.99
RC-Engineering Plug-and-Play Fuel Injector Harness Price: £17.99 inc VAT
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump £115.99 inc VAT
NGK BKR7EIX iridium spark plugs Price £30.00
Other Brackets Piping Etc 300 quid ish.

Comes to around 2300 quid wich i think is good for the stuff included cheaper than bolt on kits buy the looks of it

So would that be a reliable build for the use it will get and still give a decent ish HP figure.

Cheers in advance

You forgot map sensor, cost for someone to build it (unless you do most of the work yourself) and the cost of getting it mapped. I wouldn't have a clue bout the power but make sure you get someone good to map the car

well i can do it all my self i reckon apart from internal engine work like, but i know somone who can, im sure i could manage fitting it all.

Anyway whats a Map sensor ? i'm new to this so dont know at all....

Also i've been told a T3 is too big for this ... and do i need to buy a thicker head gasket to decompress the block...

If so what size Gasket would i need 1.5 ?

Map sensor will determine how much boost you can push. 1 bar is atmospheric pressure so if you want 1 bar boost, you'll need at least a 2.5 bar map sensor. Yeah a thicker head gasket would decompress the block.

What I'm personally doing is rebuilding the entire block with forged parts and low comp pistons. You'll need to change big end and main bearings too IMO or they'll burn out, depends on the milage of the engine your using as to how long they'll last.

well im thinking just keeping low boost for 250whp at the moment untill i can rebuild a b18 block with forged internals then i would just swap the turbo stuff over onto it and into the car after ....

this is all verry confusing though for me i don't know where to start lol.

and are the parts i've chosen decent for a low boost project ? i dont want to invest in it all for it not to work....

just want boost with a minimum of reliability to be honest. hense why i dont want to run high boost.

some of the prices you listed are not realistic, and the important parts you don't want to go cheap on....

and no won't need a map sensor for under 11psi or something i'm still on standard OEM.

270bhp @ 0.5 bar atm, on a very conservative map B16b.

for that money i would sell u my turbo setup which is of higher quality parts :win:

take a look at my car for sale

all of the prices are sourced off the web the turbo and that is from XS power i know some people dont rate them but i was thinking for low boost it would sufice ...

i've got a 2500k budget exluding mapping thats another budget i already have a good clutch etc so just need poitning in the right direction for this

just go to ricky at race-tech,
will do you a better set up then that,
plus he can fit and map everything buddy

Right for the above setup what would be the best turbo to go for out of the 4 offerd ...

aiming for 250whp minimum and some reliability.

choices are :

Garrett T3/T4 50trim 63a/r ( whats the last bit mean btw ?)
Garrett T3/T4 57trim 63a/r
Garrett T3 60 48a/r
Garrett T3/T4 45trim

would build a forged block later ofcorse so maybe buy somthing i could keep.

spec of the kit is following :

GO-AUTOWORKS Stainless Log Manifold

- GO-AUTOWORKS SS 2.5" downpipe

- GO-AUTOWORKS dumptube

- Garrett Turbocharger

- Tial 38mm silver wastegate

- Tial 50mm silver blow off valve

- GO-AUTOWORKS Pro oiling kit

- GO-AUTOWORKS Race charge pipe kit

- GO-AUTOWORKS bar & plate intercooler

- (6) high quality silicone reinforced couplers

- (12) stainless T bolt clamps

thanks in advance guys

Garrett T3/T4 50trim 63a/r is the one to go for if u r 1.6,

but if you are planning for more and 1.8 maybe go for 57 trim for more high end power.

PM'd you

ok i'l look into it.

i'd be intrested in your turbo stuff to be honest mate ... pm'd you

The b16 will run the power your after with stock everything, dont bother with the cheap mani it will only crack and leak then you will end up buying another. Your better off with a cast log type mani for the power your after for less than quarted of the price. Compression wise just leave it stock and get someone to map it that knows there onions. I doubt very much that you will need injectors that big, there are others you can use from diffrent cars for half the money second hand. Why do you need an aluminium radiator? stock half sized will be more than adaquate same goes with the hoses, silicone are not needed. Hks take off plate? your paying for the name I have one on my engine that cost £20 but im not looking to make 270 I want 700+ whp. All im trying to say is forget the bling factor, as the old saying goes '' chrome dont get you home''

i see where your coming from there ... i dont know much you see so i just go by names i know have a good name

Dont get me wrong, im not saying buy poor quality parts just that some are not really needed.

i know what you mean.

Well somone has offerd me a second hand kit with 4000 miles on with a 3 inch exhaust for 3 grand everything is included was on a B16B though would i be able to use the map on it for my b16A2 ?

or will it wreck it i only want to take it to the tuners like that but i think for 2k it's an offer i can't refuse .... if he decides to sell

so who can help me piece a kit together with everything part from mapping for around 2200 quid ?
