Alright so going to turbo my b16b and before I do I need some help.
Budget cheap as possiable
Power goal:close to 250whp for dd
Question for option 1 (b16b head, block)
1. I want forged piston but what kind?
2. Oem head gasket or hondata to lower the cr?
3. Do I need to change the rods?

Questions for option 2 (b16b head, b18c1 block) or (b16b head and ls block)
1. Do I need to change the piston?
2. Oem head gasket?
3. Rods?

What i would do is sell the b16b and buy a b16a and turbo that.

The money you would get for the b16b would buy and turbo your b16a win win.

The reason i say b16a is the b16b is to high c/r. On standard internals the b16a will be really safe at 250 whp or so

If thats all the power you want then you could get away with just a thicker headgasket. Cosmetic or Toda do them.

There's no need to touch nothink else.

im not giving you advise just because you said that, your not ready.

Sorry i dont mean to sound like a dick but thats stupid just cause he wants to plan ahead and prioritise money and be cost effective doesnt mean the build will be bad or doesnt deserve advise.

B16a are better for turbo'n if you want to stay on standard internals. it will cost £500 at most to turbo your ek9. thats once you sell your b16b and buy a b16 a and turbo that

Lol I'm getting a greddy turbo kit, and I'm building the block before I turbo just so I don't blow the block, and yeah who doesn't wanna save money?

It's a bit hard to sell the b16b I listed it up but there's no interest so I'm sticking with the b16b.

Sir, I think you are misguided!

B16B = say £1200

B16A = say £400

Turbo kit = say £3-5000

^^^^What he said. I looked into doing this not so long ago, and it worked out close enough to £4000...and that was with keeping my b16b on stock internals and thicker headgasket.

I'm sure Blinx and others who have done turbo builds will tell you, things quickly add up and end up over budget dude:nice:

The greddy turbo kit is costing me around £1300, and I bought my b16b for £2500
I'm guessing it's cheaper here in Canada?

Were are you pulling that much money out without forging the engine that insane.

You are correct on the engine price.

T3/T4 turbo-£600
B16a cast turbo mani-£100 + p&p
FMIC + piping-£250
Ec tune-£350 + £25 per hour for mapping
arp head studs-£75 + p&p
thicker headgasket-£100
Walbro fuel pump-£65
Fpr-£150
Evo 4 injectors-£142

that works out at £1832 + £400(b16a) = £2232 - 1200 (b16b) = 1032

Ok i was optimistic with 500 but am i missing anything this is providing you take the head off yourself

I can get a b18c1 block for cheap with stock internals, and if I use that I will have a "safer" motor?

:blabla::blabla::blabla: okay okay, if your getting a turbo that small i suggest the edelbrock kit, much better than the little MHI turbo in the greddy kit...

B20? I think it's the B20Z or something, the one with lower C.R. sell your B16B (which will be much more expensive) and put the money on the turbo setup! $$$$

I already took apart everything, just want to know which head stud to use? B16 or itr? And I got a .051" headgasket to lower my cr 10.3:1

Yeah I just got those today, on the box it said for a b16a just wanted to make aure they were the correct ones.

Negative... if ur using the b16b block and head u should've got the b18c5 which is the ITR bc the b16b is basically a b18 block with a b16 head... i believe there is around a 17mm deck height difference between the b16b and b16a motors. u need longer head studs for this fit so the b18c5 would have worked PERFECTLY... :D
