Im not sure if anyone ask about this , but i have a question that's been bothering me. I have a b18c motor now and at this moment i am having a hard time to choose either i will get a Turbo or not, then i can decide what kinds of piston ill be buying. This might sounds stupid but do u guys have any problems with the Turbo when a police officer pulled you over?.. because its illegal here in CA and i been heard that Greddy is the only one that's legal on the street.so if anyone have any idea about this issue , let me know :please:
thank you
Ek Newbieee.

Most people with turbo honda's in socal do not drive them as there primary mode of transportation, i for example have a turbo civic, i never drive it though, too much hassle with cops. My daily is a Subaru WRX. If you are going to turbo your car and its your only car then as you suggest a CARB legal turbo kit is a good option, Greddy is not the only one, Edelbrock also has a CARB legal turbo kit and its actulaly a lot better than the Greddy.

or u can just risk it like me and drive it around but staying off boost in the residentials. i too live in the bayarea. as far as legal kits. theres the greddy and edelbrock. both will limit you on power because of carb legal settings.

umm Yea...thats the only car i have and i Daily Drive it too , so its the best that i get a Carb legal ones. but its gonna be a while before i can get that money for the turbo :nerv: but now what piston would u suggest ?

oh man....my car is high profile...so even i stay off boost i believe they keep their eyes on me all the time. and i dont want to worry about it all the time as i drive ....so legal one it is.... im not hunger for Power but i do want a turbo to have some fun with since i never had one before. and also Daily drive it
P.S i see that u work at N1 concept , i kno a few that shop there before
and i actually live around ur new location. haha

standard internals are fine as you won't be making too much power with a carb legal kit.

i heard stuff with carb number is more expensive is this true?

oh i see... how much hp carb legal kits making and compare to the non carb ones ...and So u mean like just any other OEM ones from Honda would be fine?

P.S Im just Curious, so how are the Carb legal kits are different than the other settings , and where is the Carb sticker located?

It used to be, not so much these days though... Prices have come down a lot...

I am not a pro by any means on carb legal kits but they generally come with everything you need including fuel setup and a pretuned ecu of some sort and made to work with the factory catalytic converter in place.

The main limiting factors of carb legal kits are the small turbo's, retention of oem cat, conservative tune, low boost.

Now the GT28RS that comes with the edelbrock kit is capable of over 300whp so thats why i always suggest that one. If you feel like bending the rules and modifying your carblegal kit for more power go with the edelbrock :)

Wow so u mean that the gt28rs is capable of over 300whp and its crab legal??!! That sounds cool...but in the main time should i get a low compress piston den? Or like u said just oem:nice:

Well how about this:

-how much power do you want?
-do you have an over direction your going in (drag/street/circuit)?
-do you have a budget your working with?

I am not greedy but 250-280 i guess but its always better if i can get more out of it rite :)
and im going for street but my frd is always asking me if i want to go to the track with him maybe i would but now mainly street for DD

i don have a budget cuz im going to do this slow and the reason i need to choose the piston now becuz i need to replace the old one to an oversize 81 " one to stop it from buring oil

I see, if its a street far then you should rebuild with forged pistons and rods, the best at your power level would be Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods with new main/rod bearings. You might as well replace the valve guide seals and do a 3 angle valvejob while the motor is a part and reassmble i all with an OEM headgasket and ARP headstuds to get ready for boost. As for compression i'd say go for something like 9.5:1 since it seems you may be on the motor for a while until you save up to get all the turbo stuff...

oh wow , thanks for the details ,where do u usually get the parts at ?and i looked it up on ebay just to do an estimate and its way more than i thought now lol but yeah thats cool i will take it slow and get it step by step, thanks for the help . ill keep u updated when i actually put that b18 together :thanks:

I seen the piston with the eagle rod on ebay for like 700 is it a fair price or if u know anywhere have a bettwr deal o_O
