I've tuned a lot of engines with these cams and never had any issues. I think a lot of the issues were down to install errors....

Once there dialled in correctly and mapped properly they will happily idle at 1000rpm with no lumpiness

mine idles at 1250 and sometimes rpm drops to 800 because of overlap. i couldn't image them idle at 1000 properly. i had to rise rpm, because if you will leave them at 1000, sometimes revs dropped to 500, which gave me very poor oil pressure readings, so I won't risk.

i had very good numbers on b20vtec with skunk2 tuner series stage 2 cams, maybe stage 3 would be even better? and you can use them without issues.

could you than advice me what settings to use on the pro2s gears? which gaves best results and idle smoothly?

thanks

You need to degree them in properly. There's no magic numbers.

Either not dialed in correctly or not mapped right. They will happily idle at 1000rpm.

Edit. Didn't read bit where you asked about cam gear settings. There is no cam gear settings you need to dial them correctly(using degree wheel and dial indicator on valve) as per specs given by skunk2 on install sheet

I thought by aligning the cam marks to crank marks is correctley istalling aftermarket cams, i mean why would they produce expensive components like cams and not align the lobes and cam pulleys and have the customer set them up properley? iv always thought dialling in/degreeing cams was anither name for cam gear tuning. Correct me if im wrong.

What if one engine there going into has say 5 thou skimmed off head and next engine has 15 thou skimmed off head what effect do you think this has on cam timing! With the likes of Pro2's cam timing needs to be precise which is why they state exactly the opening/closing and peak lift events of valves, when they should occur in relation to position of crankshaft. It's not that they purposely make the centerlines way off that at 0,0 on cam gears the cams are a mile out but with too many variables that can effect cam timing is the reason they need to be dialed in correctly by means of degreeing. Sure cams can be set by moving cam gears on the Dyno but you need to know your limitations, how far you can go before P2V or V2V clearance becomes a issue.

yes, you will see better results with pro 2 with such cr. My bottom end is stock cr, so for me there were very small difference tuner 2 vs pro 2.

I degreed everything (cam gears sset to 00). And than on dyno as I remember we setted the exhaust cam to 2 or 3 degrees on cam gears. So i thought what kind of settings on cam gears would be the best for s2p2 cams if everything else is degreed by oem specs?

thanks
