BC Coilovers

^ I really appreciate you saying that mate as thats the only realistic view i have seen on them. as only other reviews start with..

"just fitted my bc coilovers and they are great " lol shows they may be good to start with but down the line its a costly choice to go with budget coilies..

the feels coilovers i had on my EG6 were about 7 years old and they were still absolutely brilliant after nearly 30,000KM.
there is alot of truth behind the saying
" you get what you pay for "

Its true , but can be said for a lot of coilovers too , things wear out , faster if they arent suited to your needs like daily driving on rough roads.

People think they are immediately great because they are coming from soft suspension , maybe worn out shocks too so they have very little comparison.

You have to be realistic in your choice at the end of the day , sure you could spend €€€€ on your coilovers but the job could be done just as good by a good spring/damper setup.

If you want a comparison to other budget coilovers , Id say they are in or around the best.

The way i look at it is, the OEM set up feels great, i'll be renewing a lot of bushes and getting the alignment/geometry checked, after all my car is now 12 years old, things wear out etc.

I cover 10,000 road miles per year compared to 500 on track, so why go balls out for a massive track set up which will ruin my on road driving experience if not set up and done properly?

ek9 handling out the box is superb

for a note about bc's, none of the customers who have bought these here have had anything bad to say so far, some of them with them fitted over 2 years now. excellent coilovers for the price range

if you want to start getting into coilovers which are geared to take a great handling car and mae it better you are getting into a very high price range and its most likely to be someone like ohlins who do the business. for track days i would definately recommend coilovers, but what you chose is going to result in your track results i think

Good point, im getting them for a very reasonable price, they are over all a reasonable coilover and i cant afford to spend mad money on an top spec set up!

If my car was desinged just with track in mind and just for track then of course i would look into something better and spend a bit more money but for what is is and for what i want i think they will do just the job

:nice:

how do you determine valve damping? what makes it bad? how do you fiddle with a bad damping?
