Best Cams For Stroker Kit

you need to do 2 things:

1-do some independent research
2-then post your OWN thread and in that thread post ALL your engine mods and expected hp goal.

got it....thanks......later will create a ej6 convert to ek9 thread...:D

some people just don't understand!
What is so obvious that I don't understand? If you are refering to me, then at least some people here agree with me........So since is a matter of opinion, then don't be SO sure that you understand what you suppose to understand.....

Blinx: thats true, but if your going N/A, lots of little things add up, and every mod becomes sensitive and reflects each other, even lighter valves on a N/A motor show results on dyno. For turbo cars, you don't really need to think much about those things like pumping losses as they don't make that much difference as your compressing air into the engine. It won't be worth it on a turbo motor. N/A is different in a sense that reducing pumping losses is another way of making power when it's already making lots.

guess theres 2 choices to up CR;
1. mill head and get slight bump up in compression
2. leave head and use higher CR pistons either b16b pistons(cheap) or forged pistons and rods(expensive).

well pumping losses are important in any motor, turbo or na, thats why turbo cars have such large exhaust, to reduce pumping loss, i would say milling the head is better than getting new pistons, that way you dont increase the dome on teh pistons, the best piston design is a flat top pistons, if you can get a higher compression with a pistons with a smaller dome your on the right path :nice:

if he can get forged pistons with same specs as ITR or CTR, then that would be the best but expensive way. Otherwise yes, just mill the head slightly and use 2P gasket. SPOON 2P gaskets are 0.45mm :nice:

Arite m8...

My block has been re-bored and pistons / crank etc all fitted.. Just waiting on gaskets etc.. Im still undecided on CR.. What will I be safe to run ???

I belive the spoon stroker and head gasket will give me 11.3:1..

CONFUSED !!! lol - Cheers Andy

what octane fuel to you have access too?

if 99ron is the same as 99octane then with that good of fuel you can use the spoon stroker kit with stock CTR pistons and you should have around 12.0 with stock headgasket and around 12.3 with a spoon headgasket.

but the main thing is has your tuner tuned engines with that high of compression?

Yeh I belive its the same mate, 99 octane..

I think I will just go with the b18c pistons m8, my car is used daily drive anyways and im abit worried with mega high compression..

Will 11.3 be enough ???

Cheers - Andy

you can never have enough... 11.5CR is standard on DC5 K20A. Hondatech AU turbocharged their B16A with 40psi and 14.0:1CR! lol not saying you should do it... just eg

I run 11.5:1 on my b16b with shitty below 89 octane fuel. It runs strong to this day and is advanced to 19*

there probaly running alcohol though :)

19 degrees is VERY low. im surprised you made as much power as you did with that little timing.

I mean distributor advanced. They come from factory with 16*-18*. Blinx, what was your 1/4 mile time?

Ok Ive decided.. Im gonna go for 11.8:1 / 12.0:1 by milling the block. I take it in theroy the more compression you have the more powerful ur engine is ??

depends on the cam. And you'll have less drivabilty when you go higher CR as said before.

Man... after driving my dc2R, and going back to EK9, the 1.8 definitely kicks butt with more torque over the 1.6. You'll be pretty happy with it.

:D he told me he has access to 143octane pump fuel :wow: :nerv:

Aparently putting out 500kw @ wheels which is almost 700whp on AUSTRALIAN dyno. On a dynojet, it would definitely be 700whp+ crazy guy.

He kept it as a 1.6L and revs to 11,000rpm on 40psi, 14:1CR. My jaw dropped................. especially when he said he spent over $150,000AUD on the motor.

This guy is the distributor of Hondata in AU, runs hondatech.com.au And is the only person who can really tune hondas in AU. The dynographs of the DC5 on my thread were all tuned by him. Name is James. I've booked an unconfirmed time for him to tune my cars too! So I'm looking forward to it... :D

crazy hey! :wow:
