i used to think that, but in reality they dont compare, altho toyo r888 seem good but not ideal for normal road use.
yoko parada spec 2 seem ok, also hear people using hankook tyres and saying they are ok,
best to source the RE10's or REO1R's
I have got the RS2 on my ek with 220hp and they are pretty good, especially considering that they are quite reasonably priced. I have used these tires on the track in the wet and dry and could not really fault them for a road tire.
I would'nt say the T1R is rubbish I just think the treadblock design does make it feel like like they move around a bit compared to the RS2
RE010's are discontinued now, friend got the last 4 in the country according to Camskill as of last week
i've got a set of 4 Hankook RS2 in 205/50/15 to replace my 195/55/15 RE010, will be able to comment once they are on and scrubbed in, look a very good tread pattern though and also VERY well priced at £59 each delivered
wouldnt say the T1Rs are rubbish at all..for the price they are a good tire. it all depends how much you want to push them..i have found in the wet they can be a bit slippy but in the dry i cant fault them to much.
potenzas would be great..but for the price and hassle that it takes to find them its just not worth it.
Hankook RS2, best road tyre I have tried. Got mine £49 delivered from Julian at Rarerims. Worth that bit extra over the likes of F1's/Spec2/T1R etc. (Not tried any Bridgestone tyres though).
None of them are semi slick, RS2's are pretty good on track though (did two days on mine), A539 is the tyre before the Parada Spec2 I believe, I have tried them, grip in the dry is fairly good, wet is poor.
For a 15" rubber, forget the rest of the RE series except RE01R and RE001.
RE001 has R compound in them as well and is the 'IN' thing atm. These also have very good wear duration compared to RE01R and neova since those are semi slicks.
+1 I am pleased with my F1s, wet grip is great as I like driving in the rain, and IMO, wet grip is what makes a good tyre. Anything can be made to grip on a hot smooth and dry road, but wet weather is a different matter.
