The bolt I have circled snapped at the top, so I got a new one off honda.

Is it as simple as take off the broken bolt and bolt on the new one?
Or is it more complicated than that?

I doubt its complicated but I don't know, so it's better safe than sorry.

them rocker cover bolts would only go into the metal cast the engine head is made of of...it should jus bolt in an out wit out affectin anythin else...how did the original one break??over tightened???

depends how badly the other one broke, those arent supposed to be too tight, it shouldent be too hard to repair.

Sound lads.

@way2fastforu, it just snapped when i was puttin the nut back on. The lad in honda said the bolts are too soft anyway.

ya them cam cover bolts are very soft but like blinx said they dont need too be too tight...they only need to have enough pressure on them so the cover can form a good seal to the head to stop oil leaks...it'd be no harm puttin a bit of locktite gasket seal where the rubber sits to make sure it seals properly

hope only the top part broke not the part that screws in to the block. this happened to me had to tap the old one out rethread it. it was hell for one bolt and nut :(

@diyek, it snapped at the top. Don't want to think about it snapping at the block.

I'm ****ed now, the spanner has stripped the bolt and it wont grip it. what can I do to get the bastard out?

try squeezin a vicegrips on it good an tight or try beatin a long reach socket a size smaller than the nut onto it wit a hammer...like if its 12mm use 11mm socket...should do the trick

I'm giving it to a mechanic and he can bate it out. Theres a few other small things to be done so he can just add that to the list.

If the broken top is level, just take a hand file, dremel, or grinder wheel and make a slit across the top of the broken bolt, big enough for a large flat head screw driver to fit deeply and snugly. Then try just torquing it out with the flat head screwdriver.

thats a good idea i used to do that wit small screws an bolts that the heads stripped on...
