Please correct me if I`m wrong, but in my experiance with bike engines they perform better if they don`t re-breathe their own oil mist(on my bike the breather is in the rocker covers)so we tend to blank off the inlet tract pipe and breath into a catch tank with a filter to let the air out,now does the vtec engine respond in the same way?

yup the black canister on the back of the vtec blocks are a factory oil catch can. on top of the canister a line that then goes to your pcv valve which is on your intake maifold by your fuel rail. from there it gets re routed to your intake manifold. endyn, b&r, and z10 make kits to eliminate the pcv system.

You are referring to positive crankcase ventilation, it can be very important depending on the build.

Now is there a difference between the UK cars and the US models,as I can`t see a black can on the back of the block, all I can see is the pipe from the rocker box to the air inlet:confused:

what motor do you have? I'm pretty certain that all motors regardless of SOHC/DOHC/vtec or non-vtec have the black box.

you may be looking in the wrong place - it's under the intake manifold.

^^^correct.... SOHC/DOHC it’s under the intake manifold and a littler hard to get to, try from underneath.

I removed the pcv and have a new extended hose from the black box down near the downpipe out to the enviroment , and blocked the intake manifold , 9 years now , no problem with anything
