Ive put both the rear facing and fromt facing ones in my 9 on occasions. The fromt facing ones fit fine but the seatbelts arent realy long enough for the rear facing ones but they do fit in with a bit of fighting. It is a ball ache though thats why i bought myself an mb6 as a daily. Miles less hasstle with a 5dr.
I've had forward and backward facing child seats in the back of my ek9, I'm pretty sure I had more slack on the seatbelt in the ek9 than I did with my Saab too.
Had the girlfriends nephew in the back of the ep3 no problem and same with the ek9 now but had to put a thin pillow under the seat as it wasnt sitting right but decent space in the back
Iv had a back facing child seat in my 9 before. Went in fine. Poor kids always trip on the front seat belt guide things getting out of the back though. Had one guide brake once after a trip, right pain to get hold of. So be aware of that one with the family.
I have an ep3 as a daily & I have a recaro child seat in it with no problems. I have the car since the baby was born 15 months ago & i haven't had any trouble with getting the child in or out of it. I've tried some 4 door cars & it's not any easier than the ep3 tbh
We have the recaro young expert that goes between our DC2 and EK4. No problems, at least with a 3-door the little buggers cannot get out from the back!
I think the EK9 is ine of the best hot hatches when it comes to room in cabin and boot space, I had a recaro for my little lad and never had a problem getting him in or out. I just moved the seat forward when getting him in.
