Cold start problems

thanks again tama i think you mentioned that before lol im not with the car during the week but ill be home tomorrow so will get a good look at it. first thing ill do is swap the distributors, as i said before i was having trouble removing it as the bolt was rounded and its in an awkward place but ill get it off somehow. ill update you when i try that. cheers.

:nice:
that bolt is holding the party up buddy. lol

ok, it isnt the map sensor as i swapped over the whole throttle body. i havent checked the ignition timing no.
well when i try to start the car from cold it turns over a few times, then if i take the spark plugs out they are covered in petrol. si i thought it might be overfuelling.

You can see fuel on your spark plugs because it never burned out! , but i'm afraid this could not be fuel! it maybe oil?:angry2:
Tama ,if say that its a distributor problem how can engine runs good when hot? bad coil?

im pretty sure its not oil on the plugs.

Expansion and contraction with electronics and wires can cause "on again" "off again" symptoms.

ok i tackled it today again and finally got the bolt off the distributor, with minimal use of the grinder lol. i swapped the distributor with the one on the dc2 and hooked everything up again.
andd. . .
it started first turn of the key! :win: and i took it for a spin and its going great.

alls left to do now is get another distributor and a few gaskets and rebuild the dc2 engine and hope its still working.
good man Tama666 for making me change it :nice:
and thanks everyone else for your help too.

jackhdc2, Rock'N man. congratulations! Well thought out process you went through -- process of elimination done well.

Side note: Always suspect what seems not necessary, like a striped bolt head...getting in the way of logical process of elimination. I cant tell you how many times I have fallen for that...

cheers man your a legend! i probably wouldnt have bothered with the dizzy if you hadnt kept mentioning it. but im glad i got it sorted out without having to go to a mechanic,
ill carry a few spare dizzys in the boot from now on lol
yeah your right, its funny that the one thing i had bother getting removed turned out to be the problem!
