Cruising engine temperatures? FIXED

Sounds like classic weak thermostat syndrome to me as well

Hopefully it is guys. I'll report back tomorrow when its in with slightly more coolant lol. On that note what coolant is everyone using? I've been running the pink motul stuff from tegiwa.

Silly question but have you changed the fan switch at the same time as the thermostat? Stick with honda type2 coolant cheap as chips.

Mines does the same but I'm running a full length rad. I've been through 2 OEM thermostats to try to fix it but still does it... Just waiting to get a proper temp gauge so I can get some proper figures rather than the crappy OEM one. Only time it gets to half way/just below is in stop start traffic and idling.

If you solve it let me know! Haha

Honda type 2, it's about £15-£20 for 5 litres and is a pre mix,
Using tap water will make a real mess of the inside of your block over time, even if it's "soft water"

Was out last night and there was no rain. Makes a considerable difference to water and oil temps!

So I fitted the new genuine honda thermostat and the problem got worse! Temp way off the bottom of the scale when cruising with the heater on but red hot air out the vents. Then off the back of a thread jesse started about turbo water feeds I thought temp sender. Swapped it for a spare one I had and the gauge is now rising up to bang on half way and staying there at all times under all conditions. Happy days. I hadn't mentioned that there was another issue as well, the temp gauge would jump up about 2 lines on the gauge when the headlights went on, read about this on honda tech and the general consensus was that it is an inherent problem with the cluster however it is no longer doing this with the replacement sender in.

Ah that's good news, easy fix then!
