okayy guys, I need some advice, currently i have a shot b16a2 obd2 in my si around 80k.. its apx gonna cost me $1100 to rebuilt.. the price of new a2 jdm is out of my budget. ive been looking into b20z from 99-00..it will be a non vtec untill i can afford vtec..first off how much will total range to have complete b20 vtec.. Ive done research everywhere.

so my questions are... is rebuild a2 cheaper? or going non vtec for awhile well worth i.?price range of b20 vtec when complete? ive been told if i go b20 get low intake manifold?

this will be used as a daily driver...better reliability..less problems..
advice, opinions...
my price range is about $1500

specs of current blown a2...
Type R Cams
Type R Valve Spring and Retainers
AEM Cold Air Intake
Golden Eagle Intake Manifold Gasket
ARP Head Stud
High Compression Piston (wiseco)
Innovative Motor Mount (75A Black Track)
Excedy Stage 1 Clutch (900-1000 Miles)
Light Flywheel

just look for a b20z/b bottom end and transfer your b16a2 head onto it, to convert the b20 to vtec im sure its pretty cheap especially in the US as there is loads of companys providing the parts needed

Can I ask what you did to blow it up?

it was hydro lock and there is rust, other wet substances coming out of cylinder 1 and 3(far right two) i havent took the bottom end(short block apart yet, but i dont want to go trought that process, its been sitting now for a few months, it wont crank, no compression. i believea2 head is still good...

I was doing some reaserch and i found that i may have to re do/ hook up an additional oil line? is this true? a long process to go through.. i know i have to harness and drill in fro lvtec distrubutor peice to fit... Im located in vegas trying to find a decent price but legit shop to do this for me>>

What will i need to do this conversion.. i dont look forward to doing a ton of internal work.. but i do plan on getting better pistons, rods, etc when i have this rebuilt..
any suggestions?? like i said my budget is around $1500
.. reliable, used as dd, not really wanting a "race car"
nice torque and rpm would be just fine.. RELIABLE
Thnxx guys,
baby b=)
