well, i give up on my shock and seized cup n ring on my rear left coily, it just wont budge.

im just gonna buy a new coilover.

is there any companies, good on price that people would recommend for buying one, without having to wait for toxic rides said id have to wait 6 weeks for just some cups n rings.

cusco dealers please...hit me :) and im looking to buy and have it delivered within a few days, so someone who keeps them in stock would be handy!

cheers, martin

There's some pretty drastic things you can do to free up the seized collar...some of which is probably going to mangle it slightly, but better than having to wait 6 weeks.

One of them involves using a punch and hammer to see if you can "shock" it loose.

The other I've found to be very effective is using a plumber's pipe wrench:

With the coilover secured in a bench vise (don't forget to use wooden blocks!) turn the large collar. If it still doesn't budge - attach a long pipe to the end of the wrench for more leverage.

I've worked on my fair share of seized coilovers. In a pinch, you can leave the damper installed in the car, but after a small "incident" where the pipe wrench came flying off the collar....I elected to observe proper techniques.

Don't forget to use lots of WD40 or whatever is your favorite penetrating lube. Good luck!

When you reinstall it, make sure to put some anti-seize only where the rings thread onto the damper. Next time this won't be a problem.

the wrench was tried, both on the car and in a vice.

more fluids and lubes were tried than iv had hot dinners.

really, the mechanic that is my best friend, we have tried everything we can think of, and have even gone back to it 2 or 3 times thinking it might be a little looser following the tugging and pulling the days before.

id just like a link to a website that does cusco coilovers and are already in the uk, so i can get in touch with them and buy a rear left one. the others are perfect, and lower fine ( we found out the hard way! typical, the rear left was the last one we went to lower! ) lol. and it wouldnt!

A bit late, but use tein spanners as you can put a breaker bar on it lol.

for future reference.
