i want to do a d16 turbo in my ride. i hav read alot of forums and i'm getting mixed answers. does anyone hav any suggestions on this subject. i'am leaning toward the vitara/eagle swap but i want to do it up right with block sleeved, good crank, mani, turbo and anything else i would need but i dont want to go broke doing it. i've read anywhere between $1500 to 3k.

can anyone help
thanks

persoanlly i'd say £1800 is not enough to go turbo properly.

yes you can get turbo kits for that, but i wouldn't want to be running one..

for £1800 - £2000 you could go B18C ...

WELCOME by the way :))

to do it all properly inc sleevivng the block, fully forging and piecing together a kit or buying an off the shelf kit your going to need more than that, $3000 at the least!

it all soon starts to add up trust me ;)

well thanks guys. i was thinking B18c right from the start, but i don't have 8 or 9k to be throwing into a motor. i want a fairly easy first swap that's y i chose this one. i just need a starting point on like wat kind of turbo, intake, sleeves, etc to use. wat suggestions can anyone give me.

thanks

8 or 9k for B18c??? you can have nicely done conversion for about £2500

Sleeved and forged turbo'd D series is not a fairly easy build... also its not cheap...

I'm guessing by your first post you have a D16 in your car currently... i think you would be very surprised with a B16A swap... maybe get some cam's for it and a nice ECU and you will have plenty of power for a first swap...

He obviously seems american things could well be different over there.

Some people say with a good map you can run a standard bottom end upto and around the 250bhp, although It's all about the map, That would be one of my main concerns when building one of these.

It can be done, but not low cost. Turbo D's are good for that they are tho. Street sleeper SOHC. For the same money you could have something way more reliable and more powerful in a B or H swap/build.

thanks dude. so i take it you hav done a few swaps. so if i choose the b16a or the b18c wat would i be getting into with the wiring, ecu etc. i hav some knowledge with working on honda's i just dont care for the wiring its a pan in the ass.

More powerful ? I like n/a honda's as much as the next guy but any decent turbo d16 will be more powerful then a n/a swap honda unless you go k20 possibly .

Turbo > N/a

It would be a lot easier to drop in a B series, and there is plenty of B16s pushing 200bhp and B18s with near 220bhp with the wright mods and map! There is a lot of work in turboing the D series! From what youve said above i take it that B series conversions are expensive! But If you could turbo your D for cheaper i would go with that!

establish a power goal first. if you want something like 210whp or so you could get away with a stock block 1600 D-series. all you need to do inside the engine is to install ARP headstuds/bolts. get something like a T28 sized turbo, you'll love the power delivery.

with Vitara pistons, Eagle rods and a properly sized turbo (say T3/T4B) you have a bottom end good for 260-270whp on 97+ octane fuel, safely.

as everybody said, have it tuned by someone with a lot of experience. hope this helps
