Dans EK9 Type R

Looks amazing Dan... rear interior looks so much better sprayed. Mind sharing your process, did you use aerosols and mask off the plastics?

Done the mounts around my cage feet so have some paint left over :D

I'm interested to know this too man, how did you prep the surface and what paint did you use?

Looking good Dan...I am too wondering your process of painting the interior :)

Thanks you guys :nice:

@y3Lo, Duncan from here was selling a set so grabbed them straight away. I sold the other 2 to a friend as im running 888 at the rear with enough tread at the moment. These are fantastic tires, really are.

The process of painting my interior:

* I started off using 800 grit (fine) wet and dry. Pour some warm water in a bucket with some washing up liquid.

* Key over all surfaces you want to spray. "Key" as in give it a good rub, no need to over do it. Make sure the paper is nice and wet went doing this. After youve done this dry all surfaces thoroughly(this is very important) Make sure there is as little dust/dirt as possible.

* Mask all areas you do not want to get paint on. Using masking tape and newspaper. Masking tap is good for the edges. Cover seats/door cards as paint particles like to travel. Leave doors open. I put bin liners over the seats and doors.

*Spray all areas in grey primer, 1-2 coats will do as paint isnt going to have much exposure. Make sure you cover all nice and thick though. Allow to dry for 20 minutes or so.

* Start spraying your desired colour. I used Gloss white, i wanted a nice bright white colour. Have can around 12 inches away when spraying. Nice and steady and evenly. Be careful, it can drip! If it does allow to dry/rub down and re-do.

* When finished allow to dry and leave doors/boot open to vent the car out. Will stink all day so unless you want a big headache i wouldn't drive it that day. Mistake i made

I used

X2 cans primer
X2 cans paint

Oh. ive had my gearbox re-built, feels bloody amazing with the stage 1 clutch. Manifold fitted with new doughnut gasket. Wow, im so happy with my car right now, feels so nice to drive. Cant wait to get the brakes sorted this week :))

Looks awesome mate and some great pics! Love the rocker cover and great job on painting the rear, looks so fresh! :)

I have just fitted the same mounts also and I agree with you they are great and dont give of too much vibration. I do alot of daily driving and they are fine but feel nice and stiff when giving it welly! :)

Thanks alot buddy :thanks:

Yes the mounts are very nice aren't they. You can feel the chassis respond better with these for sure but are reasonably road worthy!

Oh i cannot wait mate, all ive been doing the last month is preparing my car/searching/sourcing parts making sure everything is how i want it. Crazy month its been, and its nearly there.

No only track day ive done is a red letter day with super cars and you couldnt exactly drive it how you want. I mean im no stranger for driving very fast in my years, yes naughty naughty but track work is a different ball game. Looking forward to learning my car further and learning my ability on an open track :nerv:

nah cant do the ring dan partly funds and partly because i want to do more uk tracks and price wise it makes a bit more sense. you will love it tho cant beat the track experiance car come alive! :)

Definitely Matt, cant wait. Very much a shame you cant make it. But ill catch up with you on Japfest.

Little update:

*Red stuff pads fitted to front
*Hells Braided brake lines fitted all round
*Motul RBF600 Brake fluid installed
*Brake master cylinder stopper fitted

I bought X3 500ml bottles of the fluid and only used 1 bottle! Only needed 1 bottle to flush and fill the system up. 3 is way way too much.
Getting the car under-sealed black on Wednesday, smarten it up a bit.

The Sunlight light was messing up the pics again. Couple here.Pic with heat wrap fitted
