selling my ek4 to get an ek9, i have a de-cat pipe that i would like to keep.
My car has the standard ek4 vti exhaust system; i need to know if the decat pipe fron my ek4 will fit onto an ek9 standard system?????
i know that the 9 has a wider exhauset but are the catalitic convertors the same, as the de-cat pipe is only a small section of the exhaust system as it just replaces the catalitic converter which again like the decat has about 4 bolts (2xeach side) holding it on to the pipe
please note that the ek4 and the ek9 will both have the standard exhaust fitted.
any help will be appreciated !!!
thanks

hi mate
jdm cats are about 4 inches shorter than uk vti cats,i bought a brand new tanabe exhaust for my jdm eg6 sir,but the exhaust was around 4 inches short of meeting my cat due to the tanabe exhaust being made for a uk spec car.
i ended up making my jdm cat longer so it would fit.
i know this was'nt on an ek9 but the cats are the same.

as far as i know it will not fit.the inside diamater is 65mm off the pipe on the de cat pipe for ek9 i bet yours is smaller.

It won't fit at all, the diameter on the vti exhaust is 1 inch and the diamter of the ek9's is 2 and half inch's and the cat on the ek9 is shorter!!! I almost ran into that problem because some one was selling a uk de cat and it was well too long!!!

also the sensors are in different places on the two car, one in the cat on the ek4 and it's just before the cat in the mani on the 9's... know this is true for JDM cars but not on the UK ek4's...

thanks for your responses guys, much appreciated, wow so an ek4 vti 1.6 has a 1 inch diameter exhaust and an ek9 type r 1.6 stock is 2.5 inches! that is amazing, this forum is great learn something new on every thread as someone has already been in the same situation and everyoone helps each other out. cheers corny

Dont listen to them!!!!!!! The Vti exhaust is 2.25 inches (i'm almost 100% sure) - not 1 inch - wat you think we drive a Scooter?????

And EK4 VTi's do not have an O2 sensor on the CAT it is on the Manifold just before the CAT - Exact same as the EK9

Wow - i thought you guys liked/knew Honda's seems like its a EK4 bashing compo over here.

But on topic the CAT is different size
