right before i go down to romain next tuesday i want the engine running fine, ive had an idling problem for a while now.
see video below.

i know the engine isnt fully warm up, but see when teh revs drop that isnt normal right?

also when warm itl idle at about 1100. then when i hit the throttle it wont come back down.

i cleaned the throttle body, but someone told me i have cleaned some "sealent" aroun the butterfly which seals the throttle body when closed. as i broke this seal there is more air going through and now idling high.

i have taken the throttle and iacv off, and will be cleaning them tommorow, iacv with petrol.

Also will replace the tb gasket and check all the vacumm hoses again.

anything else to check. anyone else has the problem.

how do i identify a faulty iacv?

if i am reading this right! i have never heard of sealant around the butterfly valve before, your engine still needs air to run! so if you had a tight seal it wouldnt run at all!!!

looking at the video i would be inclined to say you have a vacum leak.

some times these are a pain to find, check all your vacuum lines as thats what it looks like to me. if that dosent help you then clean out your IAC Valve

ye when i was thinking about it earlier what you say make sence, but when i rang hond-r one of the lads told me ther is selant. ill give him a ring tommorow.

There is no sealant that I know of on the butterfly buddy, 22 years of working on them; D and B series. There is a gasket between the TB and intake manifold, but that is about it.

As said above, check your vacuum lines, it does not appear to be your IACV at this point.

What engine/ecu is it? My 98spec P73 idles my engine at 1050-1100rpm when warm.

hmm maybe it doesnt then.

p73 96spec itr engine, have taken the throttle body off and also the iacv for a good clean and new gasket.

have sprayed some carb cleaner around some of the hoses but doesnt seem to be leaking any where, will re fit all the parts and go over the hoses once again.

could tps sensor be the cause? ie needs calibrating

right fitted new tb gasket and iacv gasket, idle is way high even when warm.
and soon as i touch the throttle the rev obviously raise, then it keeps fluctations between 2k and 1500rpm.

Fozzie Bear knows whats up with it. the fuel pump doesnt even want to prime sometimes and the car keeps cutting out. Mad Mad

only thing i can think of is the iacv has been of for 2 days and has been sitting, i cleaned it out with petrol on wednesday, left it, then used some carb cleaner today. so it could of dried up or something??

Main Relay
If the main relay is going out, sometimes the fuel pump does not prime or its intermittent.

will replace main relay, anything else it could be?

sprayed carb cleaner, no vac leaks, the idle is hunting very bad and doesnt settle at 1100. it is 1500 it is idling wen the engine is warm.

also mechanic came down and put his finger in a hole in the throttle body and the car died, he said it is not meant to die, he took the idle screw out cleaned it and put it back in, he told me there something stopping the screw from going in fully and that is causing the high idle, he also took the iacv plug out and the idle wasnt hunting as much, he said replace this.

i will test the iacv tommorow by swapping over from another known working itr iacv. hopefully this cures the problem.

anyone know anything about the throttle body problem? is the car meant to die out when you put your finger over the hole in the tb??
