hi everyone i am doing an engine swap on my 1998 ej9 1.4. i have a b16a2 obd1 engine with a few bits already such as obd2 engine loom driveshafts and obd2 ecu from an ek4. i was wondering if i would need to change the existing obd1 engine loom with the obd2 or is it easier to just use a jumper harness, also would like some help with all the other little bits and bobs (sensors etc) that i will need any help is much appreciated thanks.

No, you will have to use the obd2 loom or it wont match up with your interior/dash loom.

YOu'll need an obd2a loom on the motor for it to work in your car. The OBD2 ek4 ecu will be no good to you unless you have the key for it. as its an immobilized ecu and will only work with the key from the car it came from.

So best bet is to get an obd1 P28 ecu. then get an obd2a to obd1 conversion harness to make it work in your car.

if i was to get the key from the car the ecu came from would it just be a matter of changing the chip into my key or is it not that simple? i have noticed that the connectors on the obd1 loom dont match the obd2 loom could i just change the connectors or do i have to replace everything that is different? thanks for the help.
