EJ9 to EK9 Build

Bad news man doesn't look to bad from the pics maybe just a door a wing and pulled back quarter as Jesse said

Exactly what it is, but the insurance company may write it off, then I'll have to do it off my back, need to check the front lower arms aswell!

Yeah no one was hurt, just a low speed bump, the other car however got off with a missing number plate and a hole in the bumper!

So, I've told the insurance company stuff it! Stripped the car down at the weekend, turns out the hub arm is bent, upper wishbone is bent, tracked end is bent, also need a new from wing, passenger door, track rod gaitor, wheel arch liner, beat out the rear quarter, total re-spray down the passenger side! Picking up all the parts tonight :)

Prevents the car for ever being written off, not going to give up now after all the hard work so far!

Any suggestions on the wheels, I always said if I had to get them re-done after the hassle last time the would be powder coated, although I may keep the purple...

Ideas please guys, keep the purple paint, or powder coat, white, black, bronze or anthracite????

Small update! Beaks lower tie bar fitted, work on the crash repairs continues, should be on the road by the weekend, but will be a while before it's looking as good cosmetically as it did!

Also did a few servicing bits, oil change, oil filter and fuel filter, changed the track rod, track rod end, replaced the rubber Gaitor, have the new wing ready, new door comes Friday with plastic gaurd for the wheel arch, have the new upper wishbone, and now looks like this has forced me to do the brake upgrade early, so should be picking some goodies up Friday evening :)

So, I've been so busy with work and the car I havnt had time to update this, loads has been done with loads still to be done, so I'll make small updates for now!

Picked up a full set of ek4 brakes, which were cheap, but in a bad way, so have total stripped down all the brakes, trailing arms and hub arms, currently they are sat in an electrolysis bath to remove the rust, first time I've done this, but appears to be working!

I have also swapped out all the damaged suspension parts, replaced the front wing, r placed the passenger door, including all the locking mechanism, glass and window motor, it appears that the bang has broken the window motor so this needs to be replaced!

And yesterday, this little gem turned up all the way from Japan :) so I have my hands full at the moment fitting everything I have along with the repairs fro the accident...but I won't give up! As always, thoughts and comments welcome.

On the list to do:-

Fit ek9 carpet
Fit ek9 interior plastics
Refurb all calipers
New wheel bearings all round
New rear trailing atm bushes
Fit carbon fibre rear strut brace
Spray passenger side

And whatever else I can think of along the way!

Another little update, picked these up the other day, a 7 1/2 hour round trip, but well worth it! They are in mint condition...I have also replaced a front wheel bearing, both track rid and track rod ends, passenger side upper control arm, and dropped out the LCAs re-greased and re-fitted as they were creaking like mad! Problem solved though.

I have fitted the ek9 plastics which look great, and the carpet is no in, just waiting for the MOT to be done before fitting the recaros as the guy doing the MOT won't fit in them. I've extended the dc2 rails by welding an extra plate, so the all 4 bolts line up, also fitted a standard air box as the k and n one was rubbish, car was so underpowered with it!

Both passenger side wheels have been shot blasted and re-sprayed following the accident.

Let me know what you think? And happy Easter!

Looking good bud!
You got a picture of the Kn filter? I need a new filter because mines not that great.

So the Mrs finally passed her test last week! Within 48 hours had put the front bumper into a lamp post, and last night, snapped the cam belt! Good start!

So does anyone know it the d14 engine is an interference or non-interferance engine, I.e. What are the chances that valves and Pistons met :(

Is it time for a b16 or b18 lol

I think it's time for a b series anyway tbh.
Car looks far too good not to have a B under the bonnet!

My brothers d14 engine snapped its belt around 40mph, no valve damage at all. So there could be hope, pull the plugs out and inspect.

a b16 or b18 would be great for a car like this

Just noticed I havnt put any of the pics of how the car sits since all the repairs etc from the previous 'bump'

Think I'm going to stick to D14 for know as the Mrs wants the car back on the road asap! Does anyone know of good places for d14 parts, I.e. Good quality valves, and cambelt kit etc :) not keen on eBay stuff!

Also, I checked the belt last night, Sh had managed to snap it into 3 bits! Never seen that before.....normally one break!

Was probably near 100 not 40 hahahaha, but yeah my cambelt snapped as Liam said and there was no damage to the engine.
