Okay how things I have 97 ek4 sir and it sounds like a Subaru and everyone that hears it asks if its missfireing but I have put new spark plugs and new plug leads and distributor cap and rotor arm and a new coil and checked the timing and ignition timing and are good And I could be driving down the road and it's like the car just bogs down no power and then just takes off as normal and but doesn't happen every day just at random but sound like a Subaru every day and help or any info on this would be great as I'm at my wits end at this stage ? And my manifold are scorched bar one pipe?

Have you any check engine lights ? What was your ignition timing set to ? And when was your fuel filter last changed ?

First things you need to check are the colours of each spark plug,
Remove each one and take a picture and post it here if your not sure if they look right.

It's likely one will be a different colour to the rest, this should help identify the miss firing cylinder.

Another thing to check is that you have fitted the leads in the correct order, as mixing them up is an easy mistake to make

Bang on lad I'm going to check the spark plugs latter and I'll set the ignition timing tonight as I got a light and read the Write up on how to do it by vtev6000 and I'll check the leads aswell

Wen used the timing light do I set the light to 16 or set it to 0 degrees and the set it to the middle make on the pullu

With the light set to #0 you won't the TDC to line up that's the one out on its own, with light set to #16 you won't to line up the middle of the three,
Them plugs don't look good to me but I'm no expert,
Sorry the other way around! !
Light set #0 =middle mark.set to #16= mark own it's own ,
Don't no how I mixed that up, and I just done mine the other day,
Now I'm second guessing what I did !!

I wen I done it last night i think wen set to 0 it went to the middle mark and wen set to 16 it went to TDC mark I'll have to check agen tho and them plugs are only about two tree months old lad

If that's the case the ignition timing is 16 degrees off. You should set your light to 0 degrees and then adjust it to the middle mark which is 16 degrees

The reason it sounds like a Subaru is because your running a unequal length manifold, as can be seen in picture, your manifold has longer primaries on cylinders 1+2 compared to 3+4, this will result in a Subaru like engine sound, same reason Subaru's have that signature burble is due to running a unequal length manifold.

Have a question for yeh man y is cylinder 1 pipe not heating up like 2/3/4 there all done blue/ white and number 1 is still golden brown in colour ?

Was reading down the replies waiting for my moment of glory. Then I see vtec6000 has beat me to it by 10days lol

I've no idea buddy.
At a guess I'd imagine it's not getting as hot for some reason.
Maybe due to the extra length or the gases out that cylinder aren't as hot?
