EK4 Track Car

You are doing your project exactly the same way I would if I wasnt rennovating our house - man life gets boring when you get old!

I'd definately go to the same lengths as you and will give my ek4 the same treatment in around 2 years time, along with the old B18 lump as well.

Keep up the good work!

cheers guys,

i'm back off holidays now so should be back working on the car tomorrow and seam welding it all this wednesday

Awsome build!! Just went though from start to finish:) I also work in a bodyshop and looks like your doing a cracking job:). Can't wait to see this painted!!!

glad to see a fellow bodyshop worker saying it's a cracking job as i'm an aprentice haha ... nearly finished though.

Anyway today and tomorrow got a load of mates coming to help me so if we dont drink too much it should get a good lot of it done

READY TO BE SEAM WELDED woooop woop ok it's not fully ready but we are gna crack on tomorrow anyways

So Started seam welding the beast today ... Please note it's all TIG welded not MIG ... pretty cool actually but more rust in hidden places than expected

Looking good !!

Would love to seam weld mine while i have the shell stripped but just not so confident in my welding abilities

costing me about 300 quid to get it done by a decent welder ( a mate ) bud... they dont need to be great welds just in the right places ... you can always practice on somthing else

Right a bit of an update here after having no internet for a few days changing ISP

Started sanding down one of the rear wings

mite help if i actually posted the rest of the update DUHHHHH

Destroyed the rust in the engine bay :

also the boot area

and this is the inside of the rear arches GREAT

and primed my spare rocker cover

Amazing work buddy!

Can you tell us more about the seam welding and why you did it? I think I read in the past that its to strengthen the chassis; for more rigidity.

yeah that's it mate it's to make the chassis flex less i must admit honda's dont really flex that much standard but this will get rid of the creaking that the occasional bump brings up, we didnt even properly seam weld it it's only really spot welded in a few places .... compared to my mates pug the welds are no were near as long ... but my car is still stiffer than his

FINALLY GOT TO PUT A BIT OF IT IN PRIMER :O

but yeah after my gf did some work on it finally managed to get the first coat of epoxy primer onto the underside of the car :D

Heard great things about epoxy primer, at least now you'll know all the rust you removed won't come back! :)

well it needs sanding down and another coat noticed i missed some rust while i was spraying so i've marked it up and will do it again tomorrow or next weekend.

Really solid stuff though tried to scratch it with a screwdriver and it's rock solid haha so no antigravel crap underneath for me just sweat coat of shiney spoon yellow all over :D
