ek9 1.6 fastest?

is the ek9 the fastest 1.6 engine? by that i mean is their any other 1.6 engines that are faster then the ek9 standard without modifications?

The EK9 B16B engine boasted one of the highest power output per litre of all time for a NA engine at 185ps from a 1600cc motor.
 
going by they engine itself i would say yes. but there are cars out there with good packages i.e pug 106 gti power to weight ratio it is a fast car in a straingt line but the ek9 was made for the track and in its class not alot if anythin will be faster
 
the new Corsa VXR (I dont like corsas) Has a 1600 Turbo unit which produces 189bhp, i highly doubt it would be as "race ready" as the EK9, Were you talking about naturaly asspirated engines or Turbo/Supercharged engines???

the Nissan Pulsar VRZ-N1 is the most powerful 1.6 n/a car . its a red top version. a step up from the VZR blue top.

toyota corrollla bz-r is another n/a car with more power at 190 bhp on a 1.6 and it has throttle bodies as standard + 6 gears!!! my mate just imported one,its a 97, was really cheap to buy in japan,think it cost him like £500 plus auction handling shipping and vat etc,so for around 2k its quite impressive!!

correction the bz-r's corolla or proper name levin/treuno are only 175bhp!!


Denward the vzr n1 change over system is called the neo vvtl there 2 stages to it the first stage is pathetic second stage is good...but iv seen an ek9 beat one both cars bog standard....vzr's an vzr n1's arent all they are cracked up to be they are jus rare.
 
lol,i corrected myself already mate and the toyota owners club site says its 167 bhp,i was thinking it had the same power as the later model although thats a 1.8.

also that video put up of the vzr against the civic is a autech na against an ek9 which isnt really fare
 
EK9 by far BEST allrounder... :ek9: it not jst cos its pushes 185hp frm its 1.6 Bseries lump... but the gear ratio the chassis / suspension set-up and the 8600rpm!! everything on the civic is addictive. . . :naughty: :clap:


Ohh nearly forgot! looks MUCH nicer than the nissan. . .
 
Thats the first time ive seen one of those VZR's and i have to admit they are seriously butt ugly.
 
all they are is an almera hatch wit a few dif things thrown on an a sportier engine....they are bad handlers they've a solid beam rear axle instead of independent suspension like the civic
