EK9 Honda Civic Type-R - 4.40 to ATS 4.9 Final Drive - Gear Ratio Speed Comparsion

i will buy a half cut for my car.. thanks.

so do u think i rather get a 98 b16b than 99 b16b? cos need to convert ecu to obd1?

You dont have to convert to obd1 but that is what I would do. buy 99 it is younger.

any different between this obd1 and 2 in term of performance and other?

By using OBD1 ecu instead of OBD2 ecu in my case, I would just have 5500 Vtec engaging instead of 6200. That is all in my opinion. But in case of tuning when you go to OBD1, you have possibility to play with best ECUs, ECU's that are ideal for updating tables (chiping) which leads to better performance. P28 and P30 are such ECU-s. Easy for modification with HONDATA, for example.

OBD2b ECU's are not welcome in tuning world. That is from my experience.
I had oportunity to go with OBD1 in the begining of my project but I was too stubborn and wanted to have original Type R wiring of engine. Now have to convert to OBD1 and take P28 in order to tune my car for best performance and new setup of all parts that I recently got.

Tat is real good comment tat u gave..Oh... So obd2 vtec will only activate at 6200rpm and obd1 activate at 5500rpm? i really donno tat..
Between tat, do u know is tat diferrent between the crossmember, sterring rack, fuel pump, brake pump servo, upper lower arm, and others stuff within the engine bay from Ej6 and ek9? which of it is diferrent? cos i wanna make sure i got the parts when i buy the halfcut for conversion.

VTEC point is the main thing. I don't know if there are any changes to rest of tables.

I have done B16B into ED9 1991, I used ED9 fuel pump in the begining (which is weaker than EK9, I even used axles from ED9 and upper arm.

I think (you should check with forum I gave you :hondaphysique.com) that everything will suit you.:nice:

Admin please split this topic to a new one under half cut new topic.

Cant understand the forum bro.. Its not english... Got others english forum that i can get the answer... thanks

Guys i got a standard S4C B16B gearbox only change is i installed a Cusco MZ diff.
Will i get good gain if i install just a 4.9 final drive and leave my OEM ratio?

From a 4.4 to 4.928, around a 12% increase in torque throughout the rev range :)

so the 4.9 final drive will be fine to use without changinf my diff or OEM s4c ratio?

Yes, you can use it. If you use the ATS 4.928 though, you will also need to get the JDM '98 Spec ITR 1st Gear, Collar and Needle Bearing, it's not a straight fit into your EK9 box.

no no want the mfactory 4.9 final drive
That is then a straight fitt to my ek9 box with my oem ratio and cusco mz diff???? :nice::):nice:

wicked thats my monday morning 1st buy :)

cool thanks for the info. one more thing anyone know what oil to use with the cusco mz diff?

interesting. seems the best mod - pound for performance wise..
