Morning lads/lasses,

Just wondering if anyone uses IRC? Is it worth starting a chatroom on an irc network somewhere? Would make disucussing all things ek9 a lot easier :)

I have started #ek9 on the quakenet network (irc.b0rk.co.uk) but its quite lonely atm :)

I would be defo be up for joining !! - Would be great to talk to fellow Honda enthusiasts in real time.. :nice:

Not a bad idea!

What would everyone think to a shoutbox?

Shoutbox is like a mini chat room that would be on the forum.

IRC stands for internet relay chat. Its been going for years.

Basically, you have irc networks which are several irc servers linked together. It doesn't matter which server you are connected to, you can still talk to people on other servers as long as they are part of the same network.

To use irc you need to have an irc client. The easiest one to use is mirc...

mIRC: Internet Relay Chat client

Download and install it. You then need to connect to the network we are using, in this case, quakenet. The quakenet server i use is irc.b0rk.co.uk. Once connected you can join chatrooms (known as 'channels')

HTH

Shoutbox will be installed soon, so we can make tests and see if it works well with the site, I'm planning of installing it this weekend

BTW I forgot to mention ... thanks a lot for the suggestion :D

Hi mate, is it a registred channel? i just entered and received @ (operator powers)... or you just did /j #ek9?, either way, ill be let an irssi within a screen in one of my servers stuck to the channel :D untill the forum has its own chat room :D

cheers

Nope, not registered yet. When I joined, I was surprised as well! lol

I will speak to my mate (IRCop) about getting Q (the channel service on quakenet). It doesn't use crappy chanserv like other networks :)

Actually maybe the best IRC server where to have a channel is Freenode, im always around IRC because there are several open source software oriented (but not exclusive to) rooms.

Last night Dino Spumoni and I where chatting and it was fun, great idea to have a chat room!!!
