Dude stupid question for ya but your engine bays always clean what do you use to clean it? Mines supposed to be white but its black an id say it has been for the last 20 years at least
What would you recomend
Yeh man I've tried that, I've tried pretty much every trick in the book. I think it's just a poor gauge.Have your tried adding an extra earth to your sensors? My water temp gauge needs 1 earth to the gauge and then another earth from close to the sensor attached to ground.
My oil temp just stopping aswell.
Not stupid at all! I found that the engine bay of mine over the years had become greasy with oil and just general gunk.
I used alloy wheel cleaner to clean off the gunk, then used a rapid detailer to shine it up.
Be careful using the alloy wheel cleaner though as it's an acid, I did a small area at a time.
Hope this helps
Absolutely love the build and attention to detail.
I signed up only so that I could be active and comment on this build thread, I do however have a question for OP @B16Swt -
I'm running my own B18C7 (AUDM Type R) in an EK Civic shell that I've been having serious thoughts about turboing (have a T2871R ball bearing ready to go if I can get my **** together). Having bought the car bone stock with a D16 I've absolutely loved the opportunity to make this car "mine", in that the conversion and all modifications have been done in my possession by myself.
Without writing too much, I guess my question is have you ever looked back and thought you could have spent your money on buying something simply better right out of the factory - i.e R32/33GTR, Evo 6-8 etc? I'd imagine you would be walking over any stock variant of just about any other Japanese power house, but do you ever feel like you're in too deep? I absolutely love my little B-series but the last thing I want to do is look back in 2-3 years and think I could have spent it more "wisely".
On topic though, I absolutely love this build, I'm going to use a lot of things from this build in my Civic.
Ah thats a good idea man cos the degreasers arnt cuttin it hahaha.
Thanks very much dude
Hello and welcome to the forum!
Thanks for looking and reading my build thread! Glad you like it, and that it's an inspiration to your build! Get a build thread up
In terms of could I have bought a "better" car for the money? Yes I suppose I could of, BUT any old Fred can go out and buy an evo, Nissan GT-R or any off the self fast car, and yeh it would be fast and a lot easier etc but I'm very much into the built not bought mentally. I've always wanted to build, modify (turbo) a car, and I have been lucky enough to do so, and I've learn't a lot of valuable skills along the way that help me in my day to day job.
I don't regret what I've done to the car one bit, and I don't feel like I'm in too deep or it's a burden. I don't think you can have that mentality when modifying a car.
Also in my opinion, you can't get a "better" car than a turbo ek9.
As @robthedoc said they're as cool as penguin piss
