Ek9 rx model wanted!!

Why are you unsure? that looks really clean and it doesnt even look like hes gave it a proper clean :nice:

That looks like a really clean example, fresh import aswell so you'd be the first UK owner bar importer. Go have a look at Leeds isn't far from York.

Seen this the other day and it looks fresh as ****! I'd buy it if I was in the market for one for sure!!

iv seen the car, its not mint as the pictures, the guys had it undersealed, but when i looked underneath the strengthener or stabiliser at the rear has badly corroded so im worried the only reason he udersealed it cuz it mite be quite rusted :/. there are a few small dents around the car and slight rust on the rear nearside arch.

Yes if you zoom in on the arch on the detailed pics on link you can see rust and bubbling, just shows you that this common problem can even be found on quite recent imports.

Your right, passenger side where the bumper meets the arch, This is down to where the car is kept when in Japan ie around the coastline or how long it's lay at the docks in the salt air. But then I notice alot of imports come with snow type tyres fitted which suggests there always in damp/moist conditions.

Generally they get undersealed when imported anyways. At the end of the day it is a 12 year old car so some corrosion can be expected. Bid down the price and then spend the bit you've saved tidying the minor flaws.

Thanks guys... I have provisionally bought the car and get to pick it up tomorrow! Just wondering what oil shall I use engine and gearbox as I will be giving it a service. Thanks

10w40 SEMI synthetic and Honda MTF for the gear box :nice:

go for fully synthetic, quality oil like motul 300v 10w40 and mtf-3 for gearbo, they will work absolutely fine.

Why when the b series are designed to work with semi synthetic? It clearly states in the ek9 manual to use 10w30 ir 10w40 SEMI synthetic. Why waste your money.

if you will check audi 3,0tdi manual they recommends to change oil @ 30.000km intervals. This is for 240bhp, turbo engine... So if you will do this like AUDI recommends, you will have to replace engine after 4 oil changes. So that's why a lot of blown engines on the low milage cars. the oil is most important thing and it must be replaced frequently and with the best quality one. If you hit redline, like to do some street racing or attend track day, you must use only the best oil and not to save money on this... And if you use the car in these conditon I would recommend to change oil every 4000km or even more frequently if your car is used mostly in more stressed conditions. I would even recommend to use 15w50 or 10w60 oil in summer if you use the car for street or trackday racing.

I change oil to my b20vtec every 1000km, because 60% of these km's are in track or practise sessions.

Agreed you maybe do want synthetic oil under extreme driving conditions as it dosnt break down as easily but on the road ive found 10w40 to be more than adiquate, i also found that it seems to aid oil consumption slightly so therefore also saves money. Its swings and roundabouts imo either will be fine for daily driving.

i think that when you have such a car, which engine is unique and it's value is based on engine condition there is no need to save on oil or fuel. synthetic oil gives less wear on engine components, so this way you engine will be in better condition after many years of usage. but everyone of us have their own opinions, so i don't argue, just advice from my own experience.

I had fully synthetic castrol 5w30 and honda genuine filter and sparks in my SiR and it was perfect. fuel consumptions was terrible but V-tec was intense! not sure weather the oil had anything to do with either of these factors thou. but my friend had the same car more or less and he was using 10w40 and it wasnt as raw and viscious
