Alright people, looking for some help here? The electric windows on my 2000 ek9 are slow wen going down and up almost to the point that there stopping half way down. How do i fix this? Does anybody have a guide how to do it?
Cheers :nice:

What I done before on my eg civic was take the door card off and put grease on the motor gears and also in the guide rail which the glass slides up and down in. It done the trick for me anyway

its most likely down to friction!
halfords sell a window lubricant you squirt down the channels.
if not some wd40 should also do the trick.

but if you can hear a sort of crunchy noise coming from behind the pannel its most likely the mechanism thats on its way out.
honda window mechanisms work with a tensioned cable running through a series of pullies and passing through the motor. this cable is simaler to that you find on the brakes of push bikes. what i mean is that its made from loads of smallmetal cables wound together to form a bigger cable. so if one fibre snaps its gonna unravel and start to restrict the movement through the motor and pullies.
window mechanisms are really easy to replace if your good with your hands only a few 10mm bolts connect it to the window and door. not sure though if youcan use the mechanismout of a ordinary civic depends if the doors are the same size?

i found that using WD40 wasnt very successful as it would end up about 3 -4 days later with the window going very slow again!! Also then dipping down the side skirts and when it got dirty left a horrible greasy mess!! I then found some silicone gun oil (i guess any silicone based spray oil will do) and this done the trick perfect and for the last week no build up on sideskirts at all and also windows still going up and down alot faster and smoother!! Hope this helps some people :D

Do they really use the cable type window regulator on the EK9???

My EK4s got the toothed gear type.... Seems weird that they would change to a different type fot the 'R'....

Anyway the only way I managed to fix my windows (both sides) was to change the motors and the regs for new ones....

The most expensive window motors ive ever come across!!!!! an im in the motor trade........ :((

And I tryed the scrap yard with no luck.... No one wants to but them new it seems lol

Good luck fixing them...

so you never fixed them, you ended up replacing them. honda aint the cheapest to pay either :(

grease or oil on the arm which can be acessed by taking off door card and reaching through speaker hole, i did this as well as fitting a new seal is spot on now :))

Its either the motor going out, which they do if you keep using the the window with out keeping them lubed up, I use silicon spray and not oil or WD40. Or you only need oil/spray. [got to catch it early enough to prevent damage.]

Also, if you keep using the window while its going slow due to lack of oil in the strips, you can also start to bend [damage] the metal arms in the window mechanism which will make even oil not useful for very long at all, 1-2 weeks.

I spray mine at every car wash, takes 30 seconds.

Ive had this issue on my old civic, and its slightly here with the Jordan, bit of a Noob question, but what classes as 'silicon' spray? Ive always put WD under that title. Where can you purchase said spray?

Ben

Sample, click here.

High silicone formula does not attract dust or dirt
Oil attracts dust and dirt...helping clog it all up.

Well i kinda fixed it... with new parts lol

i tryed everything else thats been posted up and got so p#!ssed off i got the bits to fix it..

theres also a 10mm bolt that holds the regulator in.... closest to the rear of the car that has a small amount of adjustment that tips the glass front and back... if you get it right (after a few test runs) it helps the window run smother ... :))

thanks for that 10mm info. :nice:
my 92 civic had this issue and I was wondering if there was any adjustment I could make to better line up the window to be smoother/faster.

So correct in saying this! i was having the same problems, and used grease at first as pointed by someone-but after less than a week, there was a HUGE build up of the stuff (not to mention, it was all trapping and building up of dirt accumulated as it was attracting it)

I reverted to WD40, but i found that it wears off after 3-4 days, especially when the weather is warmer/dry, not to mention the fact that it was staining the side skirts with grease-like dirt which were a pain to get rid of.

I am going to try the silicone oil as recommended this weekend.
