hey,i have a 2000 ek9 type r,havin treated it to some nice new toy's like j's racing manifold,de-cat,tanabe center and rear,skunk2 pro inlet,aem cold air intake/fuel rail,b&m fuel presure regulator/gauge and a hondata s200.
after having it remapped and seein 199.6 bhp, limiter at 9800 and vtec comin in at 5300 now i still feel like i want more!!!!lol
was thinking either to go supercharger or turbo, after speakin to paul at tdi north he said if i wanted to turbo i'd be better off going with a b18 outta a 96-01 4/5 door civic vti cos a lower comp ratio, then rebuild it to suit what i wanted.
now here we go . . . . .
what do i need to do:
do i go with new stock internal's?or a stroker kit?if so what size do i go up to?
cam's?stock/stage 1 or 2?
valves/springs/cam gears-pulleys?stock or uprated?
do i need to re-enforce the head?
which turbo would be best suited to a b18?
will my hondata s200 be ok to run it?

any advice or comments will be grately recieve,
many thanks matt

how much power do you expect and how much money do you have to spend?

This will establish all the answers to your questions more accurately.

Was thinking between 250-300 bhp kinda region,as for the budget it'll be round the £4000 mark, just don't tell the wife!!!

If you plan to use the b16b i would suggest at minimum a cometic .080 head gasket and ARP head studs, this will bring your compression down to a very turbo friendly 9.3:1, as far as turbo choice it really depends, you have many options, will you be getting a kit or a piecing one together yourself?

Either really, all depend's on what would be best for the car,are kit's pretty much ok or would a 'custom' build/kit be better more reliable-torque-power wise?

Piecing together a kit vs buying a kit is not really going to affect your power, it just comes down to what you want. If what you want is available in kit form then you may be able to save some money by just buying a kit. However if the combination of parts you want is not available in Kit form then you would be best off piecing together your own kit.

For your power goal i suggest the Edelbrock Victor X turbo kit, it comes with the Garrett GT28RS turbo which is good for up to 350whp and spools VERY fast!!

I think i'm going to go for b18 vti engine and turbo that, just for piece of mind cos my b16b has got 85.000 on it now.
Am gonna rebuild it with forged internal's,am i better off gettin a stroker kit or just stock forged internal's,also is the wiring loom the same for both engine's?and will the stock lsd and box be up to the bhp and torque increase or am i better off gettin a quaif lsd and changing the gearing?will my skunk2 inlet/fuel rail still fit?will my hondata s300 be up for the job?sorry bout all the question's lol

no need to stroke a 1.8 block, keep it the way it is, just get forged pistons and rods.

The answer to all questions above is yes.

Would i still be able to use the b16b head and cam's on the b18?
Anyone know the engine code for the engine outta the 98-2001 4/5 door civic vti?
Many thank's for your help

You can use the b16b head on any vtec b18 block without modification or on non-vtec b18 block with modification.

Thank's for all your help peep's,anyone used xs power turbo kit before?what they like?

Its a B18C4 mate. you can pick them up for a good price! hope all goes well! :nice: best to go with the Edelbrock Victor X turbo kit that Blinx recommended. your hondata S200 will work fine! :nice:

Thought it was to good to be true, turbo kit for 500 note's lol.
I can get forged eagle piston's,forged rod's not sure of make, head gasket, map sensor, alloy rad with fan, head set and uprated fuel pump for 1100 quid, ave not price any off it up,is that good or not?

I can't really say if any thing is a good price for you or not since i am in USA, not only do we use different currency but we also pay different prices, tax etc...

Do i need to sleeve the block?ave spoke to a few people and some say yeah some say no?also the part's i ave been lookin at are-
Je piston's part num-188982
Eagle hi beam rod's pn-crs543083d
Jis head set pn-hhsb18+hlsb18
Walbro fuel pump pn-gss342/175082

Many thank's wag

Also i've gotta hondata s300 not s200 that still gonna be ok?ta

S300 is good, block sleeving is not needed unless your planning for more than 400whp.

Thank's for all your help, ave posted some pic's in then members ride's section
