engine tapping

my engines still tapping even though iv had my valve clearance done?
when its warm you can still hear it faintly when you put your foot down?
could it be anything else?
 
Are B-series engines are know to be a little tappety, so without hearing it i would not like to say if there is anything else to check TBH.
 
try checking your exhaust manifold for cracks as it can cause a loud ticking noise very similar to tappets
 
Have you got aftermarket parts in this engine ? I would'nt worry to much about it to be honest. My valve clearences are fine and the engine is still tappy...
 
its got stock bits no mods to the engine.
just sounds like a deisal, doesnt make me want to put me foot down.
but if its a common thing il not worry got good engine oil so it should be finee
 
it could be your valve lifters,there are 16 of them i think,it happened to me before ad i got them replaced and no more tapping eversince
 
well the lifters were off a ek9 engine and cost me 380 euro include labour,the lifter dont cost much is the labour i had to paid
 
if its not the valve clearences man id say its the injectors mine are fairly tappidy when cold is the sound continuous with the revs??

yeah i though my problem was that as well but it wasnt so i wasted the money buying secondhand injector and got them recondition an now they just sitting at my draw:angry2:
 
if it sounds more like a clacking sound it could be a big end rod bearing, went on my b18 and ruined the crank. if it is loud it is usually something to worry about, in my experience anyway.
it also sounded like a diesel.
 
its continuous with revs, when the engines warm like after a 20mins drive they seem to quieten down abit but you can still hear it tapping
hope its nothing major its a b16a2 with 89k on clock and full service history from honda so it cont be lack of servicing

my dad mazda premacys got 100k on clock but its sound so smooth even when cold

how much did it cost to get a new big end bearing?

il try and get some sound clips of it so you can hear for your self

Not alot of guys with B16b's B18c's will know about these as they have uprated ones from the other bseries dohc vtec engines and arent known for wearing out.

the lma sounds like random tapping not consistent or continuous tapping?
