I have come across a mint facelift EK9 but the dealer said its going on a 97 reg.... has anyone got a 97 facelift?! there is nothing dodgy about the car its mint condition, grade 4 fresh import with only 38000 miles on it.

i think the facelift models were around 99-00, so it may be a 97 with a facelift conversion.
you could always look the a serial number and see if it states E-Ek9 or GF-EK9 i beleve that the GF-EK9 is the facelift model

with some pics im sure we could give some better feeback

Its not a conversion imo. Pictures provided

Check the VIN, it doen't look like a conversion, it looks like an authentic face lift model.

I think that car is a 99 - 00 one, but to avoid SVA test they told the Japanese exporter to put in the bill of lading that the car is a 97 one, this can be done, In my country that was very common 4 years ago.

a face lift conversion is not hard to do all you need is the bonnet front wings lights grill an bumper it all bolts on an all parts can be takin off another civic or bought from the main dealer.

Take a shot of the blue VIN plate. We will tell you then. The interior and centre console is 99-00 theres no way anyone would be dishing out so much money to change the console and aircon controls etc.

I wanted to do that b4 but found out so much wiring and air con fan etc etc needed to be changed. You also need to strip the dash to remove the old fan etc and re wire everything... not to mention sourcing out the parts and console, cup holder, gear stick covers etc etc... lol

Its a 99-00 model.

yeah if it IS a prefacelift then chassis number will start EK9100 but if it's facelift then it will start EK9110 i'm pretty sure :nice:

I agree but the dashboard is the difficult part to change!

even the dashboard isnt that hards its jus makin sure you have everythin disconnected an unbolted or unscrewed out before you actually pull it out a small bit of work but nothin major...altogether it is a decent bit of work but if its wat the previous owner liked let them off well that is if it wasnt re-registered as an earlier 9

i would want to see an auction report, this should not be a problem as its a fresh import, check the chassis number matches up with the auction report.
This will also tell you the grade and the age the car is,it could be accident damage repaired and facelifted, there are loads of r grades going around i would be very careful.

facelift chassis number start gf ek9 prefacelift start e ek9.
sorry rvm already said this lol.

ill have a proper look at the chassis number tomorrow, all paperwork is with it its grade 4 everything matches up... not conversion and not accident damagaed. Im just wondering if they put it as a 97 so no SVA test was needed but dont understand how they would of got round that.

99% sure that happen :nerv:

yup, will be a facelift if it starts EK9110 as mine is a pre facelift and starts EK9100

sorry chona dont want to put doubt in your mind, but how much is this car is it cheap ?because if not you'd be better trying to negotiate with duncan for one of his cars that you would have no doubts in your mind that it was 100% genuine.
or have you ever thought about doing it yourself as theres not much to importing,i've just bought a late 2000 rx in black, grade 4 one owner 20 000 miles lots of nice bits for reasonable money straight from the japanese auctions.

how much did that set u back corral? if you dont mind me asking....im currently lookin to import a white type rx.

Theres no doubt in my mind that it is genuine and its got all its interpol reports now aswell so all is ok.
I considered buying a car from Duncan but his prices are far to high for me.
I thought about doing it myself yes, maybe one day it just wasnt an option this time.
