Hi guys, I have a little ej9 road project which I am loving but I would love abit more power. Id get something quicker or do an engine swap but my insurance company wouldn't be too happy about that, so I thought id just do a little work to my d14 for now. So im guessing the best place to start would be a cold feed and induction kit, exhaust manifold, decat, midpipe and backbox, higher profile cam and then a remap, pretty much in that order.
I think this would be a good start but I dont know where to progress to from there...

Could I get some suggestions please :please:

Also, im thinking of doing a little turbo kit next year too. Just thought that might be worth baring in mind

If your intent on keeping your engine for the time being, then yes, the breathing mods you have metioned will in theory get the engine breathing better and free up a bit of power...

However you are of course going poeple to tell you not to waste your money becuasue you will have to spend alot just to get a noticable increase in performance. If moneys an issue, do a swap to a d16, which has something like 120-130bhp. They are only a few hundred to buy i think.

As for Cams and remap.....who knows, in my honest opinion, its not worth going that far.

Its your car at the end of the day so, do as you please. Intake and exhaust always make it a bit more enjoyable to drive.

i would get an exhaust setup, then covert to a b series as you can use this exhaust apart from the manifold

wouldnt waste your money on getting a mani, cams and remap and stuff on a d series. save your money and spend it on handling and some lips and stuff.

Agree with the above - the amount you'll need to spend to see any noticeable difference is not worth it IMO. Exhaust and air filter will make it sound a lot better but realistically you'll only see a few bhp increase.

ive just brought a lip and some hsd coilovers and a few other visuals and handling mods, I just want a little more cheap-ish power from the stock engine...

The reason I wanna stick with the the d series is cause in the unfortunate event of having a bump with someone, I don't wanna void my insurance cause I can't get the stock engine back in before the insurance company have anything to do with it. Where as these little mods aren't as extreme and easy to swap back if needed. Id love to do a b or h swap but it seems abit risky incase of insurance :/

£400 ebay turbo kit :)

But being more sensible a d16 swap should be affordable insurance wise. Or throw a b series in and say nothing. You bought the car like that and thought it was standard due to having no mechanical knowledge :nerv:

It looks like most B16a's run between 250-350. With the money you spend on what your talking about, you should just swap it. This will give you a better base for a turbo later as well. That's my two cents.

Some of your posts are very amusing.
What's the logic behind this for a d14?

well, a hondata will run both a D and and B, looks to be a good fit to me.
if he is going to install free flowing intake/exhaust, he will need to redo the map as well regardless of series engine...forced induction will def need one.

:p

most all engine mods need a programmable ECM/ECU

I would wait until you can afford something like a b-series. You could end up spending a few thousand on that d14 just for some o.a.p. to come up in there stock d15z6 ek3 and still be quicker than you. Spend the money on handling, braking and looks, then by the time you have done all that see if you can afford a b16-18

You can tune the d14 and see an ok power increase most people will say dont do it but meh i was gonna do it if i got a d14
