Hello there,
My name is Filipe, 25 years old. Born and raised in the outskirts of Lisbon, more specifically in the beautiful village of Sintra.
The love of Hondas started when I was a teen. When I turned 18, got my drivers licence and I inherited an Honda Concerto 1.4 GL.
Although it was slow I absolutely loved the sound of those dual carbs and that exhaust note ( no cat)! After that I owned an Civic Aerodeck. Not the most appropriate car for an young lad, but it did it's job very well ( point A to point B without a a problem). After that I wanted something with a little bit more power. I got my self a LSi EG with a swaped D16Z6 engine. It was one of my biggest mistakes because swaps in Portugal are extremely illegal and almost impossible to legalise it! It had 13" rims and it as a very dangerous car. Also the swap was poorly made. Sold the car and lesson learned!
Then I got a car that was my dream car since 13:
An Honda CRX del Sol 1.6 VTi Transtop!
Yeah laugh all you want, but finally I had my dream car. Also called the del Slow!
I wanted to do a lot of mods to the car, but I never got to.. Sadly.
Two years ago I moved to a halt with my GF in another part of Portugal. And since I had to go a LOT of times to Sintra ( and money was really starting to disappear from my wallet) I had to sell it. It drove 5000Km in the 2nd year in my possession.
It was devastated to sell my dream Honda, but at least I had good moments in it.
BTW, I bought it for 7000€. Yes, cars are really expensive here, and gas also! Currently 95 octane fuel goes for 1,40€\L.
"That's not so bad!" - You say. Well, to you guys it may sound expensive, but to us Portuguese folks our minimum wage is 485€ (360£) per month.
My rent is 400€\month, so... yeah. Moving on!
After selling the del Sol I moved away from the Japs and bought myself an Audi A3 1.9TDi Sport ( 8L model).
I payed an whopping 8000€ in February this month and sold it in September. I bought it because I was making long distances daily and Diesel here is way more cheaper than Gasoline. And the car was also more economical than an gasoline car. So I thought... The thing is, we portuguese are poor and sometimes we like to cut corners ( not me, at least not in cars!). The car was needing a lot of parts.. So What I was saving up on fuel, I was spending it on maintenance... I never liked Diesel cars. This car was so numb to drive. Sure it was made to be comfortable, but I wasn't happy with that. I missed driving a car that we could feel the road, the input's that the driver provides, etc... It was time to get back to Jap cars!
Sold the damn thing a month ago and wanted to buy an CRX 2nd Gen. I wanted an EE8.
But life sometimes plays tricks, and now I'm currently unemployed.
So, I thought of buying an EK3 because the car is very economical (I always loved the EK platform, specially the EK9!)
And I was on a very tight budget, and could not find one in good shape for the price.
So, I bought an EJ9:
I bought it cheap, so that means it's despairingly needing some love!
I'll create a dedicated thread and keep you guys posted.
Really sorry for the long post and my English!
Cheers from Portugal!
